We rented from YouTube last Saturday, The Great Escape.

100% worth the $4.99 Cdn. Epic.

Widescreen, decent sound.

Best I've ever seen it since at the drive in with my Dad in 1966?

I hate to agree with you but I will always tune into Road House if I surf through it. A guilty pleasure, if not a great movie.

Ah.....hate to agree,,,,,why?

Yes, Roadhouse one on my 10ish movies I watch every time I can.

Just noticed TCM is now HD for me.

So I quickly recorded Kelly's Heroes and Naked and the Dead.

Watched the latter last night.

I watched the Demon Slayer movie. It’s very well-done but you really need to watch the first season to get what’s going on in the movie, as it picks up immediately after the finale.

10 minutes ago I finished..."Ghost of New Orleans".

Surprised me. Excellent murder mystery with a ghost story.

You won't know who dunnit until the last few minutes.

The critics did not like this movie.
I guess I'm not a follower. Since the pandemic began I probably only have watched 250 movies.

They didn't like more than a few movies I've watched 2-3 times and continue to enjoy.

Sands of Iwo Jima. My dad has always been a huge John Wayne fan and since it was Memorial Day, I figured one of my first movies of his I'd watch would be this one (been getting more interested in older movies over the past few years compared to the more recent ones). I would've watched The Longest Day but it isn't available to stream. But still, I didn't regret watching this at all as I thought it was a good war movie worth checking out.

Comanche Station (1960)

This is a classic "cowboys and indians" story. Good guy (Randolph Scott) rescues damsel in distress (Nancy Gates) from the indians, and then has to deal with more indians, along with the bad guy (Claude Akins) and his posse during the long journey home.

It's short movie, barely over an hour. Widescreen, color, amazing scenery.

I just watched Breakfast At Tiffany’s (1961)

It was somewhat enjoyable. I could see it being a uniquely quirky and provocative for a mainstream movie 60 years ago, but I didn’t think it was that good to the point of being some iconic movie. Hepburn’s character, though, justifies whatever influence it had on women at the time. I haven’t read the book but I’ve read that they changed a little bit of the material to tone it down.

3.5/5.0

Saw Raya and the Last of Us Part II Dragon

Stunningly beautiful. Too ambitious. Like an entire infinity wars worth of ideas stuffed into 2 hours. Ultimately a mcguffin movie about really simple concepts. The Dragon is the star and unlike the new Mulan it actually has good scenes. Still, I think it sucks as a kids movie so I wonder if this movie has staying power.

A+ visuals, C+ movie
