I guess if you want someone to play Brockers role on the DL, you simply go get him.

I love this move.

and the

Jamaal Williams signing

I like the Brockers with a caveat. If we sent more than a late round pick for a guy they would have had to cut then I am not super thrilled.

Free agency analysis: What the Detroit Lions are getting in RB Jamaal Williams - Pride Of Detroit

During his four years in the NFL, Williams averaged 155.5 touches for 736.5 total yards (496.25 rushing and 240.25 receiving) and 4.5 touchdowns per season. Remarkably, Williams has yet to fumble, despite 622 total touches in the NFL.

I did not realize he hit like that on blocks, it makes sense though, he runs just as angry.....hated that asshole while at BYU. Like em now though!

I get that but maybe it becomes a swap of 5th round picks. Rams move up and Lions down this year.

LAR don't have a 5th round pick in 2021 so, this isn't happening.

The Everson Griffin trade cost us a 6th and we don't have a 6th or 7th. I'm not sure what happens here. I guess we'll find out somewhere after 4 pm EST today

sweet deal, imo.

Michael Brockers trade details: Detroit Lions send 2023 7th rounder to Rams - Pride Of Detroit

On Wednesday morning, the terms of the trade were released, and they’re quite favorable for the Lions. Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Lions are only sending a 2023 seventh-round pick to the Rams. Yes, you read that correctly. A seventh-round pick, not this year (they don’t have one), not next year, but in 2023.

The Lions will take on his $6.5 million salary (and, potentially, his $1.5 million 2021 roster bonus due on March 19).

In the above picture, Trey Flowers takes on a penetrating 3-technique role (the Aaron Donald role), John Penisini is at nose tackle, Brockers is represented by himself at the 4i-technique, Romeo Okwara is the pass-rushing linebacker (which I elaborated on here), Julian Okwara is the hybrid-WILL linebacker opposite him, and Jamie Collins is the MIKE.

Each of these spots are represented on nearly every play, save the nose tackle who will be on the field roughly 50-60 percent of the time and replaced by an off-the-ball player.

Last season with the Rams, Brockers played on 61 percent of snaps and was replaced by a reserve on the other 39 percent. Based on who is on the current roster, that will likely be Nick Williams, Da’Shawn Hand, Jashon Cornell, or Kevin Strong—likely in that order on the depth chart.

In Brockers’ nine seasons, he has never had a Pro Football Focus grade under 61.9 and his most recent five years saw grades of 63.9, 74.7, 63.9, 75.1, and 79.3 overall. His strength is his run defense and tackling prowess, but he has also earned positive grades for his pass-rushing. Last season he accounted for 30 pressures (including five sacks) which is the exact same amount of pressures by Williams, Hand, and Danny Shelton had combined in 2020—and that trio only had two sacks.
