If Dak becomes a free agent he should be main priority can still sign 1 or 2 free agents and get that LB and WR in the draft we desperately need

Other than trade up for Fields, I think I'm out on all the other scenarios........Fitz would be intriguing. Might not happen for us this year guys. We play pretty much every top 10 QB next year. Our window is looking like 2022.

Unless they can create room to tag him he is hitting free agency

He is wanting more then 14-15 million a year
I would like to think Brandon Sherff is a man of his word. He said he wants to remain a WFT player so lets see how this plays out.

Remember the tag!!

That refrain will be the calling card of all contracts going forward. If we can all agree on one thing let it be that players never, I'll say it again, NEVER, go into new contract time forgoing raises in favor of another contract paying them the same thing that they earned during the season just ended. No matter what Schreff says about wanting to "remain a WFT player" it's folly to believe that his position doesn't come with the unspoken admonition that the WFT must give him a reason to make the love a true romance.

Unlike the lie that people often tell themselves and each other, LOVE — is always conditional. Brandon Schreff made 15 million dollars on the tag in 2020. Should Washington tag him again this year the price is $18 million, so there is room for compromise between the two tag amounts. ( 16, 17 M). For context, only three offensive linemen — all tackles — make more than 18 million per year. The difficulty comes if Schreff doesn't accept 16M+ and Washington is unwilling to pay 17M or more.

That said, given the salary range (15M to 18M) I have three questions for this board;

1. In your opinion(s) what would be acceptable to BS and his reps?

2. In your opinion(s) what is the maximum that Washington should be willing to pay him?

3. If there is a conflict in your personal responses to #1 and #2 above, what's your resolution?

1- 15 million should be acceptable to his reps, but it won’t be for the reasons you laid out. The reasons you laid out assume a climbing cap though, and his people know that. That is, until he hits FA, and he finds out that is the market value, then some, for his position at the current state of affairs.

2- The maximum Washington should be willing to pay him is 15 million per year because that is the rate for his position, and it may be too high.

3- There is no conflict. The resolution is simple. Make him an offer of 15 million per year and allow him to hit FA. Let him know the contract is there for him to make his decision until April 1 and then the contract value reduces. Be honest, let him know it may be in his best interest to sign a one year deal elsewhere and see if the market rate for his position rises the following season. Then his people need to know, his rights start back over in terms of tags and God forbid he suffers a major injury.

If he walks...he walks.

1. In your opinion(s) what would be acceptable to BS and his reps? A: 4 yrs $75m, 1st 3 years guaranteed.

2. In your opinion(s) what is the maximum that Washington should be willing to pay him? A: $16.5m for 5 years.

3. If there is a conflict in your personal responses to #1 and #2 above, what's your resolution? A: I stick to my offer and move on if rejected. The cost impact could allow you to add several players who could upgrade positions. BS will not be easily replaced however, if you had to replace a starter on the offence and absorb the loss with the least amount of damage it's likely guard.
I'm not saying a hometown discount as Scherff deserves his money. Get to the table and get a deal done. That in itself will provide cap relief because you will likely not pay the tag money in year 1 of a long term deal.

he isnt signing a contract for less then last years tag . that's just foolish . i do think he wants to be here and i would do everything reasonable to resign him . it will cost between 15 and 18 mil . in a few years that will be run of the mil . KC's contract today is less then you would pay for DAK .

what does that say to allen payne sweat young and TMAC ? that you rise to being among the best at your position but fuck you we wont pay you because we like another shiny new toy ?

we will never be consistent winners by letting our best guys go . we arent drafting an all pro OG in this draft, its a weak class , however we can draft 2 wrs and still get a great upgrade at wr

i am sure you can put escalators in the contract based on snap counts and such

and sherf is under no obligation to come back with an offer so you can match it . if a team offers him 19 mil then what ? that would be the market value now wouldnt it ? pay the man its that simple

16.5 over 5 years, guarantee 49.5. The last two years become a bargain in this case.

If we are clear-headed about what's on the table here. Brandon Schreff has all of the leverage because of the tag and pending free agency. Any offers below $18M, unless he and his reps are in a truly giving frame of mind, will probably be rejected. Forcing the team to either pay him that amount, ($18M) tagging him again and paying that amount anyway, or releasing him are the only options in this instance. Bottom line, it's going to either be $18M, something very close to it or free agency.

Yeah, me too! it's unprecedented but nobody asked them to FT him a year ago. This is what I'm calling the Kirk Cousin rule of thumb. The NFL has an issue and they will either change it through collective bargaining or learn to live with it.

Gkekoa is cold blooded lol
he has always been a tight ass when it comes to spending money . he is the type that thinks you can pay good guys cheaply and that you can get something for nothing .

there is more to filling out a team then getting athletes . leadership , continuity , advancement culture .

who wants to play for a team that asks you to work your ass off , stay loyal to the team , and then when you become the best at what you do they give you a fat dick for an offer .?

and if i am the players on this team and see that the bottom line is trying to win on the cheap , then why not only think about myself ?

sorry but i dont want to have RG end up like FS . an endless search

right now we have 2Snap and wes fucking martin and oh year nosnap ismael . that screams mediocre and moses and lucas FA's next year

all pro , possible HOF players dont grow on trees . and when you get one you suck it up and pay them
