You'd think I was saying that they were a high lottery team.
Considering how badly the AD-less Lakers are smacking the Ws around right now, you may have a point LOL

But all I'm saying is the Ws with Klay next year will be among the 4-6 teams that can win it. Probably not the favorites.

So rather than being one of the 8-12 most likely teams to win it i you think they would be one of the 4-6? Sure, I guess. Makes sense since you are a Warriors fan.

It also makes sense because it's true

Warriors experience isn't that much better than the Clippers. They have the big 3 but after that there's not much experience. Clippers have Kawhi who been to 3 NBA finals then guys like George and Bev who been on teams who made deep runs.

The 2nd round ain't a deep run.

When you do it year in and year out, it is playoffs experience and PG made the conference finals multiple times. Bev may have made it as well.

This isn't the Warriors during the KD years when they all these bench players with playoffs experience. Right now it is just Steph, Klay, and Draymond. Oubre may have it to the playoffs once or twice but their playoffs experience isn't much better than the Clippers

PG's been there twice. Pat Bev has been there once.

The Warriors core 3 each have more finals appearances than PG and Pat Bev have conference finals appearances combined and PG's playoff experience doesn't help.

But ultimately does it make much difference? Curry is still an elite player. Maybe Klay could become what he was. Draymond has certainly lost a step from his heyday. After that, what do they have? You think they really are better than the Jazz or Clippers or Nets or Bucks?

Try a little context.

At the time the thread was created, Harden wasn't a Net, no one thought the Jazz were this good and most don't seem to think they will sustain it, the Clippers just embarrassed themselves in the 2nd round and PG is "Playoff Pee" until he proves otherwise.

Yes, I think the a fully healthy Warriors is beating both the Jazz and the Clippers. I also wouldn't be surprised if a fully healthy Warriors beat the Nets. The Warriors have shown they can play solid defense over the course of a 7 game series. I'm not convinced the Nets can sustain solid defense long enough to get out of the East.

Warriors are elite defensively this year, without Klay

The current standings aren't necessarily an accurate depiction of the quality of every team.

Seriously, you think that if Klay Thompson was healthy right now, the Warriors would be the 2nd best team in the league? Seriously?

I don't get why saying that they would be a 4 or 5 seed is some insane claim. The Blazers are ahead of them while missing 2 of their key starters for much of the season.

Nobody said they would be the 2nd best team.

The top 3 are a good bit ahead of the rest of the pack. They could be 4th and still be a legit contender. And I do think they would have been right there.

Again, assuming Klay was somewhat close to what he was. That is a much bigger if now after the Achilles.

This thread has a poll saying that has most people saying that they are the team to beat. So more than a few people were saying they are the 2nd best team.

Well that's cool. I remain skeptical. To each their own.

No, it said they were the biggest threat to the Lakers.

That isn’t the same thing.

No it isn't.

It's about who has the best chance to keep the Lakers from winning. At the time the thread started, everyone thought the Warriors would be healthy. There were legit reasons to pick them. That has changed.

Even then, they only "won" by 1 vote.

You're coming in 3 months after the thread was started and a lot has changed, to tell everyone how wrong they were. lol

Have to add that at the time of this thread, the Lakers appeared to be in a class by themselves as overwhelming favorites. That clearly isn’t the case anymore for a number of reasons. They are still right there with the top contenders, but I don’t think anyone would be shocked at this point if the Lakers failed to make it out of the West.

I personally chose Golden State because I though their experience, the possible upside of James Wiseman and the possibility of a couple monster games from Klay and Steph made them the most likely candidate to pull the upset.

I came into this thread saying that I was shocked to see the Warriors as the team voted most likely to beat the Lakers. You, Mskings, and Tlance decided that me being shocked by that or having the audacity of thinking that the Warriors are a mid-seed team even with Klay was some great outrage. I have no idea who voted for what, although I guess you voted for the Warriors since you are so testy about this.

Which is fine. Personally I view relying on rookies to be major contributors on a title run is probably a bad idea.

You made the comment about a vote that was done before all of the things that were pointed out to you actually happened. Folks simply pointed out the circumstances at the time.

I initially voted Warriors and Heat, but changed when Klay got hurt to Clippers and Heat...because, as has been pointed out, circumstances changed.

Under current circumstances I'd probably go with the Clips or Jazz out of the West and the Sixers in the East.
