They put way too much emphasis on his days in NY, and very little on 2019. He should've been the Giants best player.

Another in a long line of misused players by knuckleheaded organizations. LC is a linebacker, not a safety. Our own Logan Thomas, switched positions himself, and had he not, could have been headed to the trash heap of what could have been. What happened to evaluating players? Washington can still correct the misuse of Collins and find that they have a much better player at linebacker, than they ever did at safety.

Hmmmm, if they only had some clue about what another team failed to do with him and scouts thought of him!

New York Giants almost moved Landon Collins to linebacker

At this point, LC should be cut but he won't. He was avg in 2019.

Huh yeah, they get a pass because of the pandemic and lack of off season/training camp etc. but the what about the internal bias exhibited by the coaching staff?

Does it make sense to play a player because of his salary and he's the better of the worse?

Does it make sense to play a player because he's terrible but is more familiar with your offense?

Does it make sense to play a player deemed a project, and, who in fact is just that?

Was it a lucky accident to "find" Heinicke at seasons end?

I'm going to say "no" to all of these questions.

They knew of Heinicke but determined for whatever reasons that he didn't meet the criteria. I'm hearing height and being a running QB were the two disqualifiers, so, shame on them! Even if he flames out, his one game performance proves that he is better than anything that they decided to go with, and as a result, what might have been, becomes the asterisk that defines this season.

"his one game performance proves that he is better than anything that they decided to go with"

And this gives me pause with this coaching staff. Hieneke was better (albeit 1 game) than Haskins, Allen or Smith. WTF? Is that called coaching bias?

The qualifier is that he was with Rivera in Carolina so they knew about him. That said,

Carolina Panthers

On April 16, 2018, Heinicke was claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers. During the 2018 season he appeared in six games with the Panthers including being named starter for Week 16 against the Atlanta Falcons after starter Cam Newton was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury. In his start against the Atlanta Falcons, Heinicke went 33 for 53 for 274 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions. During the game he suffered an elbow injury and was replaced at quarterback by Kyle Allen. His injury was significant enough that he was placed on injured reserve for the Panthers final game of the year.

On March 12, 2019, Heinicke re-signed with the Panthers. He was released during final roster cuts on August 30, 2019.

Good enough for RR to bring in because he was in a pinch but not good enough to really have a place on his football team. Hmmmm....

I'm with you man, this is all about evaluation and in this case bias against a "little" dude who could run. How he saw Kyle 1-10 Allen as better is a mystery. That said, and to be fair, Heinicke was also on these rosters as well;

Considering the way that he played, he is a testament to patience, something that the NFL and the NFL family of followers is sorely lacking.

I'm ALL IN on Taylor, but from what we've read and seen....can he survive a full season/postseason.
slightly off-topic

tyrod taylor is a stop gap solution and will soon draw the ire of a fan base who want a HOFer at qb

From what I've read, Collins doesn't want to be a LB. And dude who wrote piece saying that Collins is some great cover guy when it comes to RBs and TEs is flat out wrong. That said. Collins game n skillset seem better suited to being close to the LOS. Put him @ SS n be done with it. Cuz if this season is any indication. It looks like the Skins have finally found a FS that doesn't suck swollen blue whale nuts, shit. He can actually the position. I would like too Curl continue with the same play next as it did this year and at the very least. He deserves the opportunity to do just that.

I think Skinemall means Heiney, not Tyrod.

Hell, I don't want to be an old fuka either, but here I sit two finger typing a response. LC can refuse the move but he'd be hindering opportunities to play and get paid. You're right about the move to SS, but that's essentially what's he's been doing without great results. Too many people see his potential at LB'er coming out of Alabamee for that to not be explored. Hell, he might suck at that but without at least trying they will never know.

The smart move would be to LB for Collins if for no other reason than the payday.
