however- i have a feeling that the great football weekend of OSU over Clemson and CLE over PIT will not be repeated this week with OSU v. BAMA and CLE over PITT.

this might be crazy though--- is there a chance that Mason Rudolph made the Steelers better becuase he could actually throw down field and hit 4 bombs? might be crazy but we havent seen Ben go deep like that in a while.

do they re-seed after each round?

I thought it would be the 2 an 3 (Bills and Steelers on one side), and the 1 and 4 on the other side (Chiefs and Titans)

I thought, if the Browns can somehow pull off the W, that they would get the Bills/Colts winner.

like i said- i have no clue if they just play the bracket out or re-seed after each round thoguh.

tbh if the Browns pull it off- id prob. rather play the Chiefs than the Bills at this point in round 2.

They re-seed in the sense that the one seed plays the lowest remaining

Only way browns avoid the chiefs is if the colts upset buffalo. Chiefs get the lowest seed left

And to be fair the browns started two guys at 2nd corner and nickel that weren't in their four deep to begin the season. Provided they get Ward and Johnson back that position is massively upgraded.

Yea was hoping he'd take a discount to come back. Going to need to find a replacement
the only good part of the defense - the line- is totally in flux with the Vernon, Richardson and Ogunjobi all being FA's

Itll be interesting to see how much they can spend in FA with contracts coming up for Ward, Baker, Teller, Chubb.

might make it even more likely that OBJ is dealt.

I agree. They gotta save somewhere and Baker has shown he doesn't need OBJ with this offense. Best to go through the draft for wr imo

they were in the Clowney sweepstakes and luckily that didnt turn out

i think they intend to spend on the defensive line---and Richardson/Vernon made a ton of money--- so whether they give some of that back- or go with other guys- i think they will spend on the d-line and draft a d-lineman high.

but i guess its rich peoples problems now----- something we arent used to-- actually having to worry about the cap and who to keep.

So weird. lol.

Browns are going to need to run the ball and win the turnover battle.

i think they can do both- but it isnt going to be easy.

I dont think people outside of CLE/PIT understand to the fullest extent some of the mental big brother/little brother stuff going on with the Browns

up until like 6 weeks ago- Ben Rothlisberger had the most wins in the history of Cleveland Browns stadium....which is just a joke. its such a huge mental hurdle that i think almost got them yesterday.

maybe that will help. I dont know.

i just know that i am going to have less than productive Monday and Tuesday at work next week with these fucking night games. Browns Steelers at like 8:30 and all the playoff TV timeouts- and Bucks/Bama at what? like 9:30 start?

fucking brutal.

I just looked at Spotrac and i was wrong about Ricahrdson- he is signed for 14M next year.

The only thing that helps a little with Ward and Mayfield is that they already both make about 10M a year.....getting Ward at like 16-18 a year and Mayfield at 20-25 a year- adds significant cap- but not crazy amounts.

I believe they still have some 32 million in banked dollars left also. I think Sheldon still has another year left but I think they cut bait on Larry O and go cheaper.

Unfortunately with the injury obj trade value is now pretty shitty. But getting a 2nd or 3rd for him plus the cap savings would be worth it. Id think they also try to move Njoku considering he makes more than Kareem Hunt next year lol

Can’t imagine a team giving up a draft pick for OBJ at this point.

He is injury prone and honestly has not played well when on the field.

the problem is there is no cap savings for next year since his bonus is accelerated against the cap... his cap figure is about 15M and about 12 of that would be dead money for one year.

after htat it would save about 15 a year- but next year it would only save 3.

any bonus money is accelerated to the year they are cut.....might be the reason they bring him back...the next year the cap hit would be quite a bit less and maybe he could re-establish some value.

Good point. I will admit I don't fully understand the dead cap with the NFL the way I understand the NBA cap.

Certainly plausible that no team would give a pick up. Prior to the injury Id disagree.

actually i dont think its the bonus that is accelerated since the Giants would have taken that hit--- i think he had something in his contract that for injury the K became guaranteed. the following year the cap hit is ZERO.

basically- and you may know this----

if you say sign a guy to a 4 year contract worth 60 million and a 20 million dollar bonus--- thats an average of 20M per year--- that is your cap hit each year.

if you cut him after he played his 2nd year- going into year 3--- you have the 15M a year yearly salary--- and the prorated share of the bonus - which would be 10M.--- so his cap hit that year would be 25M if you cut him after 2 years.

its why some people were surprised the Giants traded him so soon after signing him since the cap hit was bonkers.
