Dak will likely be tagged. It would be bad business to give Dak a big contract before that ankle heals.. I just have a feeling both sides play hardball again.. I thought the Cowboys offered Dak a good contract last year. Dak may be given.bad advice. Dak obviously has lots of leverage. I mean Dalton sucked yesterday. He could not throw accurately yesterday in the first half.

I get that Lamb dropped that pass, but that no excuse to throw the ball up for grabs on 3rd down...Dalton just is not clutch, it is that simple. Anybody that thinks Dalton could lead this team on a playoff run is kidding themselves. I watched Dalton play in the playoffs and it was not good. He chokes
I think he may be tagged just as part of the process, but I think they will agree to a deal before July 15th (or whatever the last date is). Remember, if tagged it's like $38M against the cap. If signed LT we'll structure the contract so that the year one cap hit is much less than that. Also, they should know long before then if there is a problem with the ankle still so I don't think that will impede a deal getting done

I understand your points. I have said it before I really like Dak . We have tools on Offensive at WR and RB . Starting to get thin on OL and well the defense we could throw a dart and improve at most places. My issue is 2 fold with the 40 million contract is the percentage it will take of the cap. The other issue is Daks agent, from what I have read he has a contentious relationship with the Cowboys. This whole mess should have been done 2 years ago it’s part Cowboys and part Dak feeling disrespected because he did not get the big offers like Goff and Wentz. He did turn down a 5 year $175 million contract last year. I am not sure Dak is getting the best advice on signing . I don’t want a Goff or Wentz situation in Dallas I do think Dak is better than both of them. At some point you have to draw a line this is all we are Going to pay for this many years. I want Dak back at a contract that is good for both Dak and The Cowboys but if not it’s just time to move on and endure all the pain that comes with that decision. I hope they work it out but I just don’t think it will happen. I pray I’m im wrong
WELL...this is a far different response than:
"Nope if you pay him 40mill you have no more tools.
I don’t pay Dak it’s time to move on pick Your reasons but he is not affordable IMHO. Cowboys need a new QB"

I think that percentage of the cap will be less than you're thinking after the new TV deal and gambling are in play when determining future caps

I have nothing at this time IF you just don't think Dak will fully recover from his injury, which would be the best second guessing a fan could do as we sit here today. BUT.....I have zero fears Dak will become wentz or Goff, He's not wired like these guys. He works his ass, driven, plays with a prove it attitude, and an outstanding leader by example any team could ever ask for in their QB. I'll also add...5 years at 175 was not market value. Dak does not owe Dallas a discount after what Jerry did for Elliott & DLaw. It's business and should be, I hope Jerry understands that and stops with the games. The measuring stick is not Wentz, nor Goff, it's now Watson, which is all Jerry's fault.

I'd also add to you above post. I agree that this draft should focus on defense, defense, defense and would like to remind some folks that seem to think we need to draft a couple of oline guys early that 4/5ths of our oline wasn't playing. 4/5ths is a shit load. Smith missing 14 games is not the norm, nor was Collins missing the season and Martin missing 8 games. I think we've found a center and a guard in McGovern and would like to think we've added some depth with the experience gained this season with the guys who did play. I could be wrong if we lose 3 to 4 oline guys again next season but I don't see that happening again.

Lastly....I may be this biggest Dak homer on this site. I rank him only behind Staubach with regards to leadership.
BUT hey, if Miami wants Dak for #3 and #18 overall giving us 3 players in the first 18 this coming draft....I do that, otherwise, I roll with Dak

I should avoid posting after a loss consuming cold beers and another lost Cowboys season.

I would take those picks you mentioned as long a will McClay makes the picks not Jerry ;)

I’m just ready to see Dak play again. That lasting image of the tears and that fist going in the air when he was being carted off will stay with me for the rest of my time. Mahomes , Arod are on a different level yes. But I will take my chances with Dak any day.

I've got a bad feeling, Nolan will still be the DC next season.

Is Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Nolan returning in 2021?

Nolan’s boss, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, wouldn’t answer two direct questions about it on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM] on Tuesday morning.

Jones, however, noted the number of big plays the Cowboys allowed and how it was a mistake to change defensive techniques and philosophies in the offseason, given there was no on-the-field work because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“I really missed it, relative to how important that it might be to stay fixed with the same overall philosophy,” Jones said. “That one is on me. I’ll take that one.”

I think this has more to do with the timing of the question. These guys weren't ready to respond less than 48 hours after the season ending.
I think it's 90/10 Nolan and other defensive coaches are history. I do think Jerry could fuck this up and wait while many solid candidates take other positions with head coach hiring's

Jerry has enough politeness in him to not say on radio, before a firing, that a guys is fired. That is poor people skills to do that.

I still hope that he is gone cause he was shit. I hate when a coach has a philosophy and runs it no matter the personnel. I like a coach who can take what he has and design around that.

Problem with that is, the question was asked Tuesdsy and there's no reason he shouldn't have been fired Monday morning unless Dallas is considering keeping him.

Well he should have been told right after the last second of the last game........

But I understand why he hasn't yet. The org needs year end stuff to go through.

I think Jerry wants Mike to come to that conclusion. If Not then I think Jerry does the deed, mostly because Jerry is well aware Cowboy nation wants Nolan gone.

I could be wrong....time will tell
