First, the "humorable" mention list:

Blake Griffin, PF, Detroit Pistons (two years, $74.77 million remaining) - He's still a good enough player to the point that his contract will ultimately hinder the Pistons from a full-fledged rebuild/tank job.

Buddy Hield
, SG, Sacramento Kings (four years, $94 million remaining) - Here you go, Miami. This headcase could be your Plan B superstar now that you've awaken from your Giannis pipe-dream....

10) Davis Bertans, PF, Washington Wizards (five years, $80 million) – Tommy Sheppard has done a nice job in his brief tenure as Wizards GM to this point, but this signing is an exception. Sure, Bertans can shoot the lights out as a power forward, but given that the Wiz were the second-worst defense in the league last season (I'll mention the NBA's worst defense at #1 in this post) - Is Bertans really a long-term solution here or is he merely the flavor of the week?

9) Gary Harris, SG, Denver Nuggets (two years, $39.64 million remaining) – This deal made sense at the time, but Harris is a frustrating player that always manages to get injured at inopportune times. And if that was not enough, he has become a worse shooter at a time in his career when he is supposed to be peaking. Some was made inside the bubble about Harris’ ability to guard multiple positions. Still, this price tag is way too much for a defensive specialist.

8) Jeremy Lamb, SG, Indiana Pacers (two years, $21 million remaining) – His career is on the ropes after tearing multiple ligaments in his knee in Toronto last February, and the Pacers are up against it in terms of guaranteed contracts. This one made sense at the time due to the fact that Oladipo was still rehabbing from his quad injury. However, as a shooting guard that’s a mediocre shooter, this is not a contract you generally want to hand out when all parties are healthy. I’m afraid we’ll inevitably need to give up a draft pick just to get Lamb off our hands similar to what we already did with T.J. Leaf. When that day comes, the OKC Thunder are sure to be interested. I will mention them again as a dumping partner later in this post...

7) Danilo Gallinari, F, Atlanta Hawks (three years, $61.4 million) – So much for Gallo choosing winning over money. This was a case of a young team needing to use up cap space during a relatively weak free agent class. Gallinari is not an ideal fit at small forward anymore, and that’s where DeAndre Hunter plays anyway. And would you really bench power forward John Collins for him? One can only to hope that Travis Schlenk is smarter than most of us, but this deal does not make much sense. Gallo had an incredible year for OKC last year, though.

6) Cory Joseph, G, Sacramento Kings (two years, $25 million remaining) – This was a case of a team overpaying for pedigree from his San Antonio days. CoJo was an unpopular figure on the Pacers’ message board at RealGm during his final season here due to his tendency to dribble out the shot clock on certain possessions. Add in his boring skill-set on offense and this was a deal that one knew was bad from the moment it was reported.

5) DeAndre Jordan, C, Brooklyn Nets (three years, $30.1 million remaining) – Here’s a case of Kevin Durant looking to pull a LeBron James by manipulating his friends onto his team. The only difference is that Durant sucks at it. Jordan’s skill-set is so yesterday. Brooklyn is going to be one of the more overrated teams in the entire league this year, and this contract will be the one that hinders them from bigger and better things - unless they are somehow able to swing a trade for James Harden.

4) Andrew Wiggins, G/F, Golden State Warriors (three years, $94.64 million remaining) – This one’s a case of a player being paid based on his draft pedigree instead of his actual pro production, and Wiggins has done an awful lot of losing to this point in his NBA career. The notion that he was going to be the piece that propels Golden State back into title contention was not ever going to be a realistic one, with or without a healthy Klay Thompson in the lineup.

3) Al Horford, C, Oklahoma City Thunder (three years, $81 million remaining) – Boston has had Philly’s number throughout “The Process” era to this point, and the Sixers presumed they’d be killing two birds with one stone the previous summer by raiding their chief rival. They outsmarted themselves by thinking Horford can still play power forward while also starting at center during the inevitable Embiid injury. But Horford is strictly a center at this stage of his career, and fortunately they were able to find a team that was hunting draft picks at all costs in the Thunder. The good news is that Horford should be able to pad his stats on a young Oklahoma City team that has officially wiped the slate clean. The bad news is that his contract is such that he’ll likely remain here for the duration of it.

2) John Wall, PG, Houston Rockets (three years, $133.2 million remaining) - So, James Harden has successfully run yet another superstar out of Houston. At least this time the Rockets were able to secure a draft pick, but with a catch - They also had to absorb the nine-figure contract of John Wall, a player who has not seen regular season action in two years. Wall is still young enough to be a positive impact player upon return, but this is not a contract you want to take on when your team is expected to take a plunge in the standings. This was a one-sided trade in Washington's favor.

1) Kevin Love, PF, Cleveland Cavaliers (three years, $91.46 million remaining) - A defensive sieve frontcourt player in his 30's, anyone? Bueller? The Cavs trotted out the league's worst defense last season, and have ranked among the NBA's upper half in defensive rankings only once in the last decade. That, of course, was the year they won it all, when they finished a still-relatively pedestrian 10th in total defense. Coincidence? Don't even think about it. Love has been the common denominator to all of Cleveland's poor defensive units ever since he got there, and chances are that their rebuild will not ever take the next step as long as he is on their roster, and unfortunately for them, they appear to be stuck with one another.

Some of those aren't bad at all....

SMH.

And lord knows, I have been hard on Love’s contract since the day he signed it.

It certainly isn’t a good contract by any stretch of the imagination. But isn’t close to being the worst in the NBA.

I think Love would actually be a good fit on Miami at PF.

It's not a sexy trade at all but he would be a really good fit as a passer and shooter even if his rebounding numbers declined because Bam is there in the low post. Not sure what they could/would be willing to give up to make it work financially.....

Exactly my thoughts. Top 10 worst contract, sure near the bottom but I see a lot of contracts on that list that really aren’t bad just a lot of bias in that list, for sure

Stop it man.

John Wall is worse. Chris Paul is worse because of his age.

wall is the clear number one for me.

klay Thompson is a sneaky mention on this list since he’s been out 2 years now, over 30 and making max money

Kyrie and LBJ gone. They needed leadership through this rebuild with all the young players, he’s been exactly that but just injuries every year. Basically, you helped win a championship and we appreciate you

Same as Klay and Dray frankly. And those guys are both better players. Klay not being out there is of course bad luck.
