Hard seeing serge and marc go but I totally get it.

We brought in baynes. Signed fvv who was our priority and have maintained cap space to be big players in the offseason.

Still have faith in Masai.

The Lakers and Cavs just made a trade for McGee--- cavs gave away some crap for McGee's expiring contract and a 2nd rounder- and the Lakers opened up 4 M in cap space. From what I am reading its a high likelihood htat McGee is moved again at some point in part of a deal- whether now or before the trade deadline

Ouch.

What do you got against Thompson?
Thompson was a very nice signing for the Celtics. He is precisely the team-first type of grinder they need in the front court. Fantastic player in the post season that does not need the ball and can switch on just about any pick and roll.

Full mid level for 2 years.

I see that Whiteside is still unsigned....

I wonder what kind of contract he will get. I have an idea or two

lets hear it
with a lot of guys opting in- and a lot of big men already signing around the league- my guess is not much at all. Ibaka, Gasol, TT-- smart playoff tested vets have gotten some nice deals. Marcus Morris and Harrell got paid as big men. Guys like Kanter, Olnyk, Noel , Biyombo opted in. The Jazz resigned Favors. Lopez went to the Wizards for about the full MLE. Poeltl is staying with the SPurs for 9M a year. Christian Wood got paid by the Rockets. Howard goes to the Sixers. Baynes to the Raptors. Hernangomez to Minnesota. WCS staying with the Mavs.

Gasol isn't the same type of Center as Dwight/Javale. Not very athletic but is a better player

Massive upgrade over McGee.

Gasol is still somewhat of a matchup play. He won’t see as much court time against small ball teams. But, he is smart enough that they can use him against those types of lineups. McGee isn’t.

TT fills a role. It’s probably not worth the full mle. But Danny wasn’t gonna split it up.

You're underestimating him, imo. He's a guy who can defend from the paint to the 3 point line. He's an excellent pick and roll defender. He's an elite rebounder who gets a lot of offensive boards and he'll get you 10-12 points per game without having a play called for him.

He's exactly the type of player a title contending team needs. He'll do the dirty work, play hard and keep his mouth shut. Plus, he's only 29. So he's still got a couple of years of his prime.

He's a guy that I was really hoping the Lakers would try to get.

And even Dwight didn’t play much vs small ball lineups. Wasn’t used at all vs Houston so like you said...if a team has a true, big boy center. Gasol is a perfect matchup

Yep energy guy, hardworker. He wasn’t getting anything lower than that full MLE.

It’s like people didn’t watch him at all in all those years with Lebron lol. Sure, he wasn’t valuable against some of those Warrior teams but extremely valuable in most matchups

I think the contract that Lebron got him is held against him by a lot of folks. He wasn't truly worth that kind of money, but the Cavs had no other options. Even if they let him walk, they wouldn't have the cap space to replace him with anyone as good. He had some leverage, his agent used it and got him paid.

What was he supposed to do? Turn it down?
