Are you kidding me duke what star players do you get for 23.8 mil ? 6th most ? That stat is useless

Now I am sorry but cutting RK and using up every bit of 23.8 mil to go maybe 9-7 isn’t very smart and of course we have no names of who was out there that we could get

We signed a bunch of guys to cheap deals that. We can get out of very quickly with little to no cap hits and thats a horrible strategy long term ?
Couple of things, we could have cut or traded Kerrigan so we are looking at a lot more than about 24 million and about 36 million. The following players would have been affordable and would have been instant upgrades for us. This would have freed up the draft to address other holes such as TE and Safety. These players would not get us a SB but they would have been able to provide Haskins protection and weapons. Again, there are a number of players who could have been brought in. These are just a few examples.

WR: Robby Anderson
OG: Alex Lewis
MLB: Nick Kwiatkoski
OT: Kelvin Beachum

not one of then puts us in a superbowl this year

beachum is an avg OT and was replaced
lewis is a career BU
kwiatski career BU

anderson is a good wr but is he worth 10 mil a yr ?

i dont understand what the hell we were getting that is so much better then what we have . beachum doesnt solve any protection issues. we drafted a safety , there wasnt a TE worth drafting this year . and we got 2 cornerstone players in young and AG

we still would be 1-4 with this group

Didn't the Steelers win the Super Bowl at 9-7? Doesn't matter how you get there as long as you get there.
and didnt the steelers have a better team then we do by far

and i have seen nothing from this team this year that indicates it can

and kyle Allen wont sniff a super bowl as a starting qb so stop kidding yourself

Not to be rude but this is all your opinion and I actually do think these players would help Haskins develop. The statistics prove you are wrong actually. I have never said that those players put us in the Super Bowl so you have me confused with someone else.

Beachum has not allowed a sack and grades out very high and starts:

Christian has allowed the most sacks in the NFL currently:

Lewis starts at Guard and is one of the highest rated Guards currently:

Wes Martin is a bottom 5 Guard currently

Kwiatkoski has been hurt this year but has graded out very well in limited action and did last year as well.

Bostic meanwhile is grading out as possibly the worst MLB in the league

Blake Martinez is grading out as the best MLB this year and was an option. He would have cost more than Kwiastkoski but they both would have plugged that gapping hole we have in the gut of our defense.

Anderson was a big miss. He makes 4 million this year and 8 next year. He is currently 4th in yards and 3rd in catches. Yes, he is worth 4 million this year and 8 next year to help develop a franchise QB. Anderson would make more than Harmon, McLaurin and Sims combined and would stretch the field.

These are the facts and I am sorry they do not fit your agenda. I highly doubt we be undefeated with these players but the 3 offensive players would be much better than what we have and would have helped given Haskins a chance. These players would have clearly fit in our budget. I am a numbers guy instead of relying on emotion and I just proved that these players would have helped this team based off their production this year. The #1 goal RR had was to turn this offense around and develop Haskins. He clearly failed at that in year 1.

Good points Duke. I don’t know anything about these guys but your links do seem to work with the dollars we had in play. And I agree we did a poor job surrounding DH with at least a few players that could of helped him grow and develop.

I honestly think RR had no intention of DH as the long term plan or if he did it was after he had already saved as much cap as possible for his rebuild next year.

That could be the plan...I don't know and I hope that isn't the case. I hope he didn't just decide to screw it this year. We do know that we will have a ton of cap room next year for sure.

Anderson hurts for sure because he was out there and is only being paid 4 million this year. We went with Inman?????? McLaurin and Anderson on the field would have been amazing.

You might be right that RR never believed in Haskins. I wonder what the plan is? I am not a big fan of Justin Fields or Trey Lance but maybe RR is. We would have the same problem with a rookie QB though...no protection and no playmakers. Perhaps the cap room and the draft will be devoted to the offense?

PFF is subjective at best . these guys careers have been avg at best . and again there is no evidence at all saying these guys make us better then 1-4

Do I trust analytics over Kyle Smith taking a first time stab at free agency...yes I do. You can trust Rivera and Smith and I will trust the facts.

You stated these careers have been average. That is probably true. I would gladly accept "average" over the parade of rejects RR brought in. Would anyone call Logan Thomas, Sean Davis, Thomas Davis, Dontrelle Inman, Jon Bostic or JD McKissic average? No, they are all substandard players. I would love to have some average players on this team for a change. While you suggest there is no evidence these guys make us better, I will prove the following.

Alex Lewis > Wes Martin
Kelvin Beachum > Cornelious Lucas/Geron Christensen
Robby Anderson > Dontrelle Inman
Nick Kwiatkoski/Blake Martinez > Jon Bostic

Those are 4 facts that cannot be disputed correct?

You seem to challenge my thoughts on trying to improve the team but never really offer any insight on what you think should happen. Playing Switzerland and saying "be patient" is not an answer. Being patient with Allen and Gruden over the past 4 years got us in this mess. The constant dumpster diving and demand for patience didn't work then. I advocate smart free agent signings and the draft and you advocate relying on the draft and trusting a coach with no front office experience. Also, drafting our way out of this mess will take at least 5 years if we get 2 or max 3 starters each year.

We beat this horse to death in the offseason when Duke was upset that we didn't acquire FAs like he suggested. Would these guys have helped? Yes, but to what purpose? As dad said what does that get the WTF ... 8-8? Whoopee!!

It is also ties you to bigger contracts when you have other decisions to make. Many of us were of the mind set lets see what we have with this coaching staff and if the team starts getting closer THEN start adding FAs. We all know FAs get premium dollars.

My take is the same as in the off season. When we get closer then sign FAs as needed to fill holes. That is why I keep saying I was not for signing four FAs to get us 2 or 3 more wins.

Insert Charles at LG . Schweitzer is just as good as Lewis , beachum equals Moses

Anderson was off the market we we signed Inman

Being impatient has failed since 1992

Again this isn’t madden football perhaps those guys simply didn’t want to sign here

Heh. As I wasn’t around for the off season, I’m finding all this rehash interesting. I get it feeling like a dead horse if this wasn’t the first time.

Beachum might be as good as Moses but that doesn't mean anything. Beachum would play LT where we are home to a starting LT who has given up the leagues most sacks. Keep in mind the LT is the 2nd most important position on the field. Apparently RR doesn't know that.

What are you talking about being impatient? We were "patient" with Bruce Allen for 9 years. We were "patient" with Jay Gruden for 6 years. Did they not help get us into this mess? Should we have been more patient with Allen and Gruden? Stop saying we are not patient when its not true at all. 9 years was plenty of time with Allen. He should have been gone before.

Not trying to change your mind but I can help out with the "what we have with this coaching staff".
Rivera had 3 winning season out of 9 in Carolina. He brought most of those same coaches to DC who got him fired last year.
Do you expect any different results from his Carolina tenure and now given that he brought over most of those coaches? Its an honest question.

I would love to get to 8-8 because that shows progress and improvement. I think many fans want a Super Bowl or NFC East title now. That is not going to happen.

How do you think this team gets better and improves? Is it 100% through the draft I assume? I am sure you are well aware that we are not a good drafting team. Our 2nd round picks for years have been a disaster.

Do you think this coaching staff which failed in Carolina will succeed here then?

I am just curious about your last statement saying that we use FA when we get closer. How does this team improve to get to that point?

Why do you think this? I think they were opportunistic and they executed what good teams do. I mean who doesn’t game plan for Donald? That’s what has come out. They just left poor Wes Martin out to dry to deal with him one on one for many plays. Sheesh.

my response was to someone referring to the Giants game. That said I guess Kyle Allen > Haskins or a rusty Alex Smith?

I’ve heard reports that our Rams coaches are interested in Haskins possible down the road.

We have gone over this before. I am just not going to keep saying the same thing over and over. You and I differ there.

Our first question was do we have a QB .... looks like we need another one. What does Charles do for the line? Maybe that position is filled. Yes Logan Thomas was an inexpensive TE and mostly and unknown. Did you want to pay $10 million for Hooper or whatever other person? What do we have at WR, hard as shit to tell with Larry, Curley and Moe at QB and Harmon and Sims hurt.

I would have liked to see Matt Rhule or Bienemy as a HC. We didn't get that. I am not anti Kyle Smith.

This draft is at least two drafts away. I know you commented on how some of the FAs that were brought in have failed. You can say that for over 50% of the FAs that have been brought in under the Snyder regime.

What the team needed to do was keep Cousin's. This is year 4 and they are still not any closer to replacing him effectively. I would have kept Flowers too or tried to. I probably would have kept AP also. Those are the guys I would have paid. Allen also got paid and Scherff. Next year Payne has to get paid.

Collin's was one of those coveted FAs, it looks like a big waste of money right now. Cousin's replacement was failing and then hurt and signed for way more than he should have been. The team also lost a draft pick.

So I will say again and for the last time .... the four FAs we didn't sign this year did not upset me.
