Joey Rickard is now on the 60 day IL.

Roster updated. No mention where he is going, so I put him in the minors for now.

I also noticed that Shaun Anderson was optioned last week, and both McCarthy and Pence cleared waivers (Pence was released, McCarthy was assigned to the alternate training site)

I assume Banda is going to be on the active roster since Rickard was on there and the Giants haven't announced (yet, at least) any other corresponding moves. Unless they come to their senses and bring back Menez, I doubt Banda goes to the alternate site.
Yeah, S Anderson was optioned to make room for Rickard on the active roster.

I understand that they are feeling a little left handed heavy in the bullpen (6 in the bullpen, counting Suarez) but why Garcia? Why not Adon or S. Anderson? Anderson's numbers with the club were better than Garcia. Sure, Adon would require movement on the 40 man, but I'd like to see him get a shot. Garcia did not look good earlier this year.

No, I had a brain fart on that one. I was exclusively looking at the 40 man roster and yet, I forgot that he was on the 40 man roster. I'm too young to be old.

Giants Release Abiatal Avelino; Latest On Drew Smyly

Now, the Giants only have Zach Green, Marco Luciano, Chris Shaw, Luis Toribio and Will Wilson for infielders in alternate camp. Only Shaw is on the 40 man roster (of course, they have 7 infielders on the active roster; 9 if you count Dubon and Ruf, who have been acting mainly as outfielders recently).

I noticed that one during the game. I understand it from a positional stand point, but I am surprised to see Both Basabe up AND Robertson down.

Yeah, but I thought the reason for Robertson even being picked up was that he plays BOTH infield AND outfield. Kind of diminishes the point if he has to be sent down for outfield depth. Why even pick up him and drop Avelino?

Well, the Giants don't have enough players to play 1st base and Smoak is just a versatile defender and he is quite the hitter.
