Remember when we hype up how dangerous COVID is to these college athletes and it shutting down seasons, when the topic about CTE swings back around.

Should non-professional football even be allowed?

If the SEC, ACC, and/or B12 decide to push through and play this fall, there will be A LOT of pressure to surrounding COVID during the season. If key players get it before big games...or if a team has a dozen or more players get it and they all miss a game or two, it's going to be be bad optics. The playoffs would have a lot of arguing to do if a team like Clemson lost a REALLY close game and Lawrence was out due to COVID, or Alabama loses a close game and half their starting defense was out due to COVID. Do they still go by the philosophy of choosing the best team, or do they put more weight on the record?

Or, obviously if they start the season and have to cancel it. The B1G and Pac12's decision to cancel could look really good in those scenarios. I'm not saying I agree with the B1G and Pac12 (I think they all should have at least started the season to see how it works out), but that is one way that they might come out on top of this whole debate on whether to start or not.

Also, early enrollees for the 2021 class will be able to play THIS year. That could be huge for 2021 recruiting.

Even more relevant, why are any B1G or PAC teams practicing? As soon as they cancelled the season, they should have immediately stopped practice. If we are really concerned that the players can get COVID, and then a heart condition, they practice should immediately stop. Certainly there isn't a great risk to the players in a game?

Is there a risk of 'permanent' injury every time a football player takes the field in practice or a game?
Yes but is there a risk of a viral disease that is a pandemic around the world that can permanently effect the body including the heart every time a football player takes the field in practice or a game?

Crazy that we are in a pandemic and hospitals are having to furlough nurses. Ever heard of that? A worldwide pandemic and Hospitals have to furlough their nurses...…………………...

But wear that mask in the lobby of the restaurant, but take it off once you sit down at your table.

Did Notre Dame stop sending cameramen up a lift to film practices?

I disagree, most injuries are not contagious.

And guys never miss games because of the flu, etc.?

The only way it would be looked at differently is if a team had an outbreak before a game and the game had to be canceled.

I watched Michael Jordan's flu game on YouTube yesterday. I was downright disgusted at his arrogance and complete lack of respect to others in playing in that game.

To be fair, when you are in the lobby of the restaurant, you are around (and probably within 6 feet of) folks that you don't know.

Once you sit down at the table with your family/friends, you are now only within 6 feet of them.

Also, I think most restaurants want folks to wear masks unless they are actually eating or drinking.

If this thing was that contagious and that serious, any place of business that required you to take your super effective mask off would have to remain closed.

I know you aren't doing this but we are going to see a lot of B1G and PAC fans hoping that the Alpha 3 conferences fail. It's already happening on twitter. You want to have your decisions validated, that's natural I suppose.
No no no, I hope they do great and show up the Lady Pants Leagues.

It was food poisoning. Unless he was sharing that pizza on the bench, no one else was getting sick.

The flu does not have the same lasting effects and this.

So you're saying we flattened the curve, which was the original purpose back in March. Okay then, let's play.

Or are you saying flattening the curve turned into finding a cure?

But CTE does, and also football players have a higher risk of developing ALS.

Football really shouldn't be played unless you're getting paid and sign a contract.

Also neck and back injuries. How many kids are paralyzed or partially paralyzed in football every year?

Yeah, I don't think this thing is AS contagious as has been reported. The biggest problem with it, imo, is that you can be completely asymptomatic and still give it to other people.

That's not really a big deal to folks who are young and/or healthy especially since it appears that for most, it doesn't even rise to the level of the flu or common cold as far as making you sick.

But when you consider that it seems to be much worse than the regular flu or common cold for older people and/or people with underlying issues and can be passed by someone who has it, but has no symptoms...that's where the real problem is.

As far as the masks, they are certainly not the suit of armor that some of the Karens on here seem to think they are, but they're also not "completely useless" as some others think either.

Unfortunately too many.

Football is a dangerous sport.

Is it worth it?

Still not the same. I do agree with getting paid.
