Or it could be banner years for the "average Joe's".... the journey vets who understand the NFL, just weren't good enough to be thier team's " guy". The Shady's, the L. Miller's, the Crow's, the Freeman's, the Gore's..Powell's, ..ect..
Not many of those rooks were plus pass protectors in college, some, but not many. I doubt many coaches want an injury/illness to thier guy to domino into another one for thier QB.

makes perfect sense for teams in contention. if you're not in it, you gotta check out what you got from the youth to help set up next season. imagine having a breakout young DE that allows you to move on from one of the highest paid defenders on your team without losing production. that could be a franchise changing revelation.

Nope...was having a discussion along those lunes with Monkey a month ago too...I'm a seller on Kupp at this point.

Well his options are not the best. Wondering who you recommend he keeps?

I meant overall I'm a seller, as in if someone wants to chase last year's overall numbers, I'll gladly trade him at that inflated valuation.
Sorry, conversation got sidetracked. I think the OP HAS to keep Kupp given the options.

Hey @Schmoopy1000 .

I think for me a huge part is gonna be when you have to have the keepers in by.

did you tell us that? My answer will likely be different if it’s this weekend vs two weeks from now

With all due respect i dont think this will be a good year for rookies. No contact practices. No preseason. Basically their first taste is game 1. And some on this board have called this years draft class "complimentary" pieces moreso than workhorses.
The season may be over (due to covid) before they get significant touches. And i'm not just saying that cause theyre rookies.

at the same time this covid problem could be a reason for rookies to have a strong season... The game is all about opportunity... and these health concerns may give more those opportunities than ever before...

So right now your choices would be what? For sake of discussion.

PPR league
Cooper Kupp
Raheem Mostert
James Connor
Michael Gallup
David Johnson
JuJu Smith-Schuster

I think it has to be narrowed down to these:

Cooper Kupp
Raheem Mostert
David Johnson
JuJu Smith-Schuster

Not great choices all-around but I still feel it's Kupp, Mostert and DJ. None of these players can be trusted whether it's injuries, lack of production or just being unproven (Mostert) but I would go 2 RB's, 1 WR.

give me Conner over DJ

neither are long term assets, Conner will see way more touches.

Gallup probably has the BEST long term value of anyone listed... But the this season value is in question... Being on a run first offense and being the WR2 with a third WR who looks like they want to showcase... just not sure if there will be enough volume...

Then I'd wait.

For @HaroldSeattle

If I had to choose right now

Michael Thomas
Juju
mostert
David johnson

The last one is what gets me......its ppr so id likely gamble with kupp.....but ill be honest, i really think were gonna see conner be the guy again, you can question his health.....he may get hurt......but if hes healthy, i see him getting the rock as a 3 down back. There is some uncertainty, and i think we get clarity on it here shortly

another thought to layer on this - aren't we expecting to see an increase in injuries or time missed for players due to the Rona?

that would open the door for a lot of rookies/unknowns to see significant playing time/touches.

this may be the biggest rookie boon in the history of fantasy.

(much to Joe's displeasure, I'm sure, lol)
Thats fair.
But Rona may also cut the season short. This may change the mindset of coaches to their playcalling and use unproven rookies.
We see aging vets signed like McCoy and Miller... there could be a trust factor in those signings.
And if spelling a RB for a rookie presents itself, who is to say they decide to pass more?

another way to look at this would just pull ADP

Cooper Kupp 4.4
Raheem Mostert 5.3
James Connor 3.3
Michael Gallup 7.6
David Johnson 3.6
JuJu Smith-Schuster 3.11
Mike Thomas 1.6

looks like a pretty define break between Kupp, separating the "top 5" from Mostert and Gallup

PPR Average Draft Position (ADP) 12-team (2020)

Juju out of the receivers he's the only chance you have at a solid WR1 in the group
Conner when healthy he's a RB1 just going to have :hope:
DJ even with his recent struggles I trust him way more than I trust Shanahan to stick to one guy he likes to play the hot hand

As for the others
Kupp is a WR2 with some risk imo don't like how he finished the year last year and he's to TD dependent gotta assume he has some TD regression and Woods has some TD progression
Gallup the Cowboys are looking to be a better team, so probably less passing and they added a stud rookie WR all things considered Gallup is a high end WR3 in my personal rankings

I am definitely waiting.
I can set them & change them all the way to the deadline. So I am sure I will change my mind a few times LOL

What made Kupp so good early on was the amount of catches he would get. (PPR league)
the big question is. Can he get back to that?

Goff looked better when he wasn't targeting Kupp as much, so I doubt they try
