The Big 12 is set to announce their schedule tomorrow as the Commissioners are holding a meeting.

I'm thinking they're going to do the plus one model which seems to be what everyone else is doing so will be playing 10 games, 9 conference games and a plus one.

The smart move would be to ask one of the Independent Schools to be our plus-one. Notre Dame is out because they're going with the ACC and BYU has publicly stated they're not interested in playing a 10 game Big 12 schedule.

This leaves Army, who is already on OU schedule this year, UMass and New Mexico state.

Based on proximity I would say New Mexico State makes the smartest sense to play a big 12 schedule. they're the closest school to most of the Big 12 schools and also they've already had four of their games canceled because they were playing other conferences. I would like us to ask Army to be your plus-one but I think that the logistics do not make sense for them to travel through the Big 12 also UMass the logistics don't make sense so I say New Mexico state will be invited to compete with the BIG XII for this year, share in revenue and be eligible for the BIG XII title.

That's what I'm thinking.

Thoughts? Opinions? It's okay if you think I'm smoking crack.

I hope we do a plus 2 so we have 11 games.

We’ll do a plus one but I’m sure they’ll ask the plus one be at. The very least regional. So anyone in Texas for 9 of you and a Marshall or keeping eastern Kentucky for us.

I’d love playing 11 or 12 but if no one else is doing it there really isn’t a reward in getting one/two extra wins Vs G5 or 1-AA. It’s really only an injury risk and or losing the game risk.

BYU didn't turn the Big12 down, they weren't offered to be part of the conference this season. I would also bet it would be the plus one model. I was hoping for the plus 2 as well.

Is the ou opener still set to be on PPV or will Fox/ESPN carry it now with little games to choose from in week 0?

it's going to be 10 games from what most reporters are saying on twitter. Nine plus one sounds like the plan. I hope they move up the season and kick off conference play week 2. Everyone should get their OOC game in Week 0.. gives 2 weeks in between games.

There's other schools in Texas, Oklahoma, and the other states that make up the Big 12 that could be the plus 1.

Not even sure if New Mexico is going to allow it's 2 FBS teams to play in the fall. New Mexico State is pretty bad and is looking at an 0-? if they do as you want.

You're right. I misread that story about them being out. Seems the BIG XII doesn't want them and that's fucked. They're the best remaining independent.

They don't want to add BYU in the pot for TV money. Cheaper for everyone to pay the mil or so to UTEP, UTSA, TULSA, USF, UNT, etc than to give a chunk of it's share to BYU. BYUs TV deal isn't what ND gets

And they have something most other schools don't. They are more of a national/international draw instead of just a regional draw. LDS are all over the world.
