With pre season projections being lower tier of the conference and now the unjustified “parting” of VK does Brown have a built in excuse and a pass if/when our defense gets ran off the field and we finish 8th 9th or 10th
Or does the heat start to rise on the guy in year 2?

WVU was going to suck this year even if VK hadn’t parted ways with the program.

We had one of the worst offenses in the country last year. That wasn’t going to get much better with a rebuilt line. We have no depth at LB.... new CB’s...

Isn’t it interesting that there have been no former VK players voicing any support of him since his departure made news. Not a single WVU player has voiced support or wished him well either.

Read some nasty remarks about VK on the UNC board yesterday. Maybe his departure is a blessing...

I did like the look of his Defense, But then again had been looking at 3-3-5 for so long.....and the Defore disaster.....

I was really excited about the defense at the end of the year. The DL was stunting like a bunch of mofo’s... creating all kinds of havoc. I liked how Koenning simplified things so his kids could play as fast as possible.

The defense wasnt looking horrible and the offense was improving drastically with Doege. I don’t think we were playing for a B12 title Game spot but I think 7 wins was possible. Especially if we would have beat FSU to open the year. Christ, this team beat two teams on the road as double digit dogs our last two away.

Under Doege, WVU scored 20 pts against KSU... 13 against Okie St... and 20 against TCU. The offense generated... 319... 333... and 244 yds in total offense respectively.

Thems like historically bad numbers...

WVU has to replace both the LT... who became all-conference/NFL draft pick... and the RT. Those were the only 2 bright spots on what was a historically terrible OL.

None of this has changed simply because a derelict DC has been told to leave the program...

We won 2 of those 3. The offense could be the shittiest thing ever but if the team is winning games fuck it. It ain’t about scoring a ton of points, it’s about scoring more points then the opponent.

Hey man... I'm with you. Doege was a huge step up at QB for us. And, IMO... we don't win those 2 games if AK is QB. But, you said WVU had drastically improved after Doege became starter.

I'm just busting your balls. Our offense still sucked with Doege as starter. We just sucked less bad than when AK was starting.

Our OL was horrible last year. They have had no spring, and will have 25 practices this summer.

Fair points. Our offense did enough not to fuck us. For example the Texas game, our offense really fucked us. Same with Iowa state.

They were second worse I believe, no doubt definitely awful. But again at the end of the day if we are winning games like 2 of our last 3, I’ll take it. OL as mentioned was bad. No run game.

No running game is the reason the offense was so bad. Hum, why did we have no run game? Bad line play.

I have not posted in a while.

The offense cant be any worse than last year. I think we might surprise if we get on the field. This will be a strange season if it happens. HCNB gets a pass before the season starts with everything going on.

No pass. Everyone is dealing with the same shit.

After season 3, needs to show improvement. Be at least .500 or better.
Season 4 - sniffing top 3 in Big 12. Bowl invite.
Season 5 - Big 12 Championship Game. Bowl invite.
Season 6 - win Big 12.

Sounds like you gave him a pass for year 2. 6 years CCG or bust is a good barometer.

The original post asked if Neal gets a pass due to a D-Coord being a dumbass during practice. I give all new HCs a pass for the first 2 years and start the clock in year 3. By year 3, their system should be in place with a majority of his players in place.

Year 6 is not necessarily a bust without a CCG victory, but year 5 should be the year for a contract extension if warranted. My breakdown is based off a 6 year contract.

Does the clock reset for Neal? Nope.
