Waltrip is not a top tier racer. So he wasnt winning but with that DEI equipment he was in the top ten a lot & had no business up there. All three cars showed well. (when Dale Sr was alive) Again. The year the Taurus was introduced they had such an advantage over Chevy. The only Chevy driver competing with them was Jeff Gordon. DW replaced for Steve Parks (when he got hurt) for I dont remember. Something like 7 or 9 races. He was 2nd in points of non ford drivers in that span (Gordon was 1st) DEI had some ponies back then. I know this because DW was my favorite race car driver all time. He was rideless & washed up, yet still managed to be in the top ten in points during that span. DEI equipment did not suck back then.

My point about being in yates equipment. Is it wasnt considered good equipment, it was top of the line equipment (like what Dale Jr had his whole career) So for fans that look at stats only as the measuring stick. Yes. He would be considered one of the greats if he raced that his whole career. (equipment like Jr had) I already said Rudd doesnt compare to Dale Sr. (who didnt have top equipment his whole career) Bottomline if Rudd was lucky enough to land yates equipment early in his career. he would have had a shit ton of victories, which those of you that claim "results are what matter" would be calling him one the greats. been around racing my whole life. I completely understand better drivers having lesser results.

I completely agree Dale Jr. was a solid driver & he probably does get both. Downplayed & up played for who he is.

We are just gonna disagree on at what level.

Today's racing with all the technology & aero sensitivity is so much about the car (team) you drive than the driver. Equipment is key to making a career or breaking one. (even if comparing two racers at the exact same skill level)

Non Dale Jr DEI wins:

Michael Waltrip- 4
Steve Park- 2
Martin Truex Jr- 1

Dale Jr raced exactly one season(his rookie season) at DEI while Dale was still alive, it was a good team, but was not on the level of Hendrick, Gibbs, Yates, or Roush during its time, and it really fell off as Jr's career went on, and it certainly isn't on the same level of the DiGard/Childress/Bud Moore/Hendrick/Yates equipment that Rudd had the majority of his career.

What I've been saying, is your claim of Rudd not racing in top equipment is a fallacy.

I mean, look at all the races DW won with DiGard from 75-80, and then how many Bobby Allison won with DiGard from 82 on, and Rudd's winless 81 campaign with them sticks out like a sore thumb.

I love Ricky Rudd, but no matter the equipment, he was good for one win a year, 2 tops. That was proven with the top equipment in the sport. It's what he did with Childress, it's what he did with Bud Moore, and it's what he did with Hendrick.

Solid career, but not as good as Dale Jr.

We could probably go back & forth forever. But
I think

We are gonna just have to agree to disagree. :thumb:

Also when you ignore the name and just look at his career, he was better than a lot of drivers that people consider solid. Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, Greg Biffle, Buddy Baker, Ricky Rudd, Harry Giant, etc would have loved to have had Jr’s results.

I disagree completely.

of course. All drivers would like to trade results with a driver that had better results. Not my point.

SOrry about this, but did you ever really disagree with what I originally said at all? A few posts down the line, you seem to agree with what I originally said.

Bummer 2 races in Charlotte. Many other tracks I'd rather see have the extra Wednesday race at.

You're seriously gonna bitch because there's two races at Charlotte, when it has been made clear from the get go that for the time being, they want to keep the races at tracks within a reasonable drive from the Charlotte area?

That's just crybaby bullshit, sorry, just calling it like I see it.

Martinsville or Bristol would be a much better choice for that Wednesday race.
Not crybaby bullshit. You seem to cry the most.

If you get "crybaby" from this comment:
"Bummer 2 races in Charlotte. Many other tracks I'd rather see have the extra Wednesday race at".
Then that is on you.

No come in here with the whole you haven't watched NASCAR in years bit we've all heard a million times. That part of schedule has been out for weeks now. This was known. You decided to be a crybaby about it. They're going to Bristol and Martinsville shortly after. The season restart is still new, having back to back races at the headquarters of every team is probably welcome to those who matter, and somebody that cries about the schedule doesn't matter.

Not much excitement. Bowman and Truex have dominated, Logano just won stage three

I didn’t get to watch, but I see Tyler Reddick had another strong run. He’s gonna win one of these soon, and I’ll cash in when he does

I watched him the last couple years in the Busch Series, he can wheel a car. Pretty sure he already has more top 10's than Hemric did last year in the same car.

I've never really followed the Busch series or the trucks. I'll watch a race occasionally but so few of those drivers make the jump to the Cup series that I don't pay em much attention

When I was a kid, I loved the truck races. Back then, it was more of a league for failed or over the hill former Cup drivers than a developmental league. I'll probably watch them now since there's no other sports going on and they'll be running on midweek, but El Dorra is the only truck race I watch most years, and that's because I love dirt track racing.

But I'll watch the Busch Series. They run a better schedule of tracks than the Cup Series IMO(Road America, Mid Ohio, Iowa, etc). TBH, I liked it better when they let the Cup guys run as many races as they wanted. That really gave you a better measuring stick of who the top up and comers were when they were racing Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski and Carl Edwards every week.
