Thinking you are the best is fine. It doesn't change the fact the road to your end goal is WAY easier in one conference over the other.

Going to the West would have made their goal of winning, not one, not two, etc. etc. much more difficult. Instead of facing tough matchups throughout the playoffs -- they basically had to get thru the conference finals and NBA finals. In Miami -- their record was 32-6 in the 8 first round and conference semifinal series. You think that would have been there record in the West? No chance.
Of course not...there was no west team that could have paid all 3.

Yeah -- I actually forgot all about the avatar and then just left it there. I should probably change it so people don't think I'm actually an OSU fan.
Right...as a UM fan you wouldn't want to mistaken for a fan of a contending team as opposed to an alsoran.

I just read another story that posted something that I think confirms my stance that Lebron, Wade and Bosh knew they were picking Miami long before they actually signed.

2009 -- Lebron said he was going to stop wearing 23 to honor Michael Jordan and switch to 6. The team he signed with, the Miami Heat......retired the number 23 in Jordan's honor in 1999, even though he had never played for Miami.

After going back to Cleveland, he went back to 23 and the same for his number 23 with the Lakers.
why do you keep writing this? we all agree they put the wheels in motion to joint Miami earlier than they actually did.....during the Olympics was when it started.

You are just the only one who does not get how hard it would have been to plan for all 3 to join a team that none of them were on already.

And still.

That doesn’t come close to proving you right about the conference thing.

Not even logical.

So many important things factor into this decision for an impending free agent. What conference the team plays in is not one of them.
Pretty sure no one here has insinuated this plan was not first thought of well before they were FAs.

In terms of relative greatness, the Bulls were far and away better.

In terms of absolute performance then it ultimately depends on the rules you are playing by.

If you transported the 98 Bulls to modern basketball they would by a fringe playoff team. If you transported the 92 Bulls today they would be a good playoff team with no chance of winning a title. Not because of a lack of talent but their entire team was built around the rules of the early 90s. Rodman would either foul out of every game or be completely ineffectual.

Conversely the 2016 Warriors would be a fringe playoff team in in 1992 as guys like Curry would barely stay on the floor because of the beating they would take.

The game is just very different today but from a structural perspective with the focus 3 point shooting at with zone defenses that it is almost impossible to compare the eras.
Curry could not stay on the floor but a smaller Iverson could? A less talented, shorter, lighter BJ Armstrong could?

It's not just about height. Iverson was an absolute pitbull who got pummelled night in/night out.

Steph Curry is a great player. But he's built for the modern NBA. Put him the 1991 NBA and he would get beat the hell up and given his injury history, the chances of injury would be significant.

I did say that I didn’t think LeBron was committed to it.

Certainly discussed as a possibility. But I can remember Windhorst saying that LeBron had not actually made up his mind for sure until within a day or two of when he announced the decision.

Might be wrong about that.

Horace Grant was one of my favorite Bulls...then that asshole went all f*cking dickhead on the United Center court when he beat 45 and the gang. Jumping up and down, waving a towel and being just an overall sh*tty winner. Like a big f*ck you to the fans.

No sympathy for that guy.

And the Bulls would have destroyed Orlando with or without him in 96. Injury saved him from being a large part in that embarrassment.

Now he thinks he deserves a docu series. He was apart of some very good teams and now seems awfully defensive and kinda butthurt. But the media has nothing else to report on and Shannon Sharpe all the sudden knows basketball. It’s a mess this current environment we live in

must have been a helluva day for you. Hell you been on here all day dogging Jordan again? We all care

I think BJ and Steph are good comparisons. AI is not. Those other 2 didn’t go to the hole like AI did

You were the one who said no one is making the point that Lebron cared most about staying in the east.

when you were proven wrong you backtracked with the "I never knew anyone cared what trustme said".

was pretty much just you and him in that discussion.

Uh, no it wasn't. I said that it was something that Lebron likely considered, but it wasn't one of his main reasons. Just that he is too smart not to have had that occur to him.

He was the one who said it was Lebron's main reason.

I mean, if you want to call me not even knowing he had said that until @tlance pointed it out as "pretty much just you and him in that discussion"...

I don't really know what to do to help you.

You've discussed it with him more than I have.

Yeah, it's pretty much common knowledge that they started planning the whole thing during the Olympics.

You're right that Windhorst said that.

But that bit about "he didn't know until just before he announced it" is bs that they came up with to try to make the suicidal Cavs fans feel better, imo.

Curry is bigger and likely stronger than Iverson, and he actually deals with a lot of physical play in today's NBA. And he hasn't really had injury problems for a while until this freak hand injury.

Curry is one of the best scorers at the rim, where a lot of contact happens. There's a chart in this article that shows that he scores 1.28 points per drive to the rim. He's right up there with small forward an power forwards.
