Renewed and Canceled TV Shows

I like Westworld but I think that show has run its course.

4/14: Comcast announced that while its new streaming service Peacock will rollout to Comcast customers over the next few weeks and launch to the public on July 15, almost all of its original programming will be delayed to 2021 (or possibly late 2020 for a few shows like Brave New World and Saved by the Bell if production can resume).

I got Peacock last week and it sucks for programming right now. If you have Xfinity, they send you the new X1 box because the old one can get Peacock or HULu. HULU is a mess trying to convert something for Xfinity. TV freezes up and the box has to be restarted. It'll take a couple of weeks but they'll figure it out. Wonder how many TV's will be destroyed by thrown objects?

I ditch all of that shit. Xfiniity is ridiculously expensive. All I have now is Prime and Hulu. Hulu for $1.99 for 12 months. Then it goes to $5.99 per month. I have an indoor antenna. I watched as much NFL football last season as I did when I had shitty DirecTV. Fuck being screwed over by those providers.

The NFL needs to wake the fuck up and offer the NFL package to everyone. They will make more money. Including cord-cutters.

5/15: CBS All Access has ordered Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a Discovery spinoff centering on the crew of the Enterprise and starring Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, and Rebecca Romijn.

Very cool. I enjoyed Anson Mount as Bohannon on Hell on Wheels, and I enjoyed him even more as Captain Pike on Star Trek: Discovery.

I could see some kind of fit chic in the roll. Demi Moore did a great job in GI Jane. Get someone line Gina Carano or Charlotte Flair (someone who can act, of course, but the imagery is important).

An old fat chic with no athletic background? I don’t think so.

eh... as weird as this sounds i think it fits better having a not fit woman... just like an old Denzel, is not the physical powerhouse... if it is someone that can fight and looks the part then you are not seeing the mystery... you are seeing face value that they are bad ass....

Denzel is more believable though. Sure, he is unassuming and you can go that route with a female lead. Unless she has trimmed down, I don't see it. I just don't see it period.

why does the actress’s past matter?? Again this is not a role where there will be high flying action scenes. The fighting will be simple. Anyone can do these fight scenes.

At the very least, he has the acting chops to pull off what is needed. Latifa is fat and has always been fat. And she doesn’t come across as cultured or highly educated/trained to be a high level spec ops or cia agent. But she is AA and part of the alphabet community, so she is perfect casting.

i think you overestimate how much physicality is needed for this role. It’s a cerebral fight more than a physical one. Speed and fighting skills are not needed as much in a cerebral fight. Also, the fact that she is a bigger woman also allows us to believe that maybe her punches have some weight in them too. And she has punched people before in her acting. Not saying punching is fighting.

can you really have a hard time picturing her winning fights because of using the weapons around her, and using pressure points well??

and you bring up Chris Farley. But the difference in acting is that I don’t think Farley could have gone away from comedy.
