If you need to downplay Simmons like that, there's no point in having a discussion.

If we draft Young, one of Ionnaidis, Allen or Payne have to go to the bench, and Settle won't get off the bench. Sacking the QB was arguably the single best thing Washington did last season. They were 1 sack behind 7th place in the NFL and 8 sacks behind 1st place Pittsburg. Getting Young would still leave a ton of holes, and filling 1 or optimistically 2 holes a year through the draft with this roster just isn't good enough.

I think RK should be gone if we get Young. Give me an example how a guy like Simmons got drafted over the drafts premier pass rusher? The guy that comes to mind is the Safety from FSU that the Chargers drafted and he went in the teens. Simmons is a talent but you never pass on premier pass rushers.

Now if RR thinks Sweat can be that premier pass rusher then you might have something here. But why take that the risk?

Even if RR thinks Sweat is better or just as good as Young. Wouldn't the trade down be for a LT not Simmons?

Of course not - it'd be for both plus more!!! That's always been the case. Trading down from 2 is to fill at least 3 holes instead of 1.

RK should be gone regardless - or at least have his salary dramatically cut.

What risk? We suck - with or without Young. Risk?

The risk of losing a great pass rusher. that is the risk.

You're not making any sense.

if we trade down with Miami and get #18 we wont get any top LT at #18. They will be all gone. Is it registering now? Plus Simmons could be gone at #5. The Giants could take him.

That is a valid point but if you can trade back and get a pick or two why not?

The draft itself is the risk game. Young could be the next Lawerence Taylor. Or he could be the next Joe Lunchmeat. Simmons could be the first true hybrid stud. Or he could be the next Adam Archuleta. There's just no way to know and being who we are the last 20 years. Any mistake will be magnified.

True. You never know. I look at it as who is the more risker pick. Young or Simmons. I think Young is safer b/c pass rushers usually go at the top of the draft vs cover Lb\s. If we trade down I think Okudah is the safer pick than Simmons. Taking Simmons at #2 is a huge risk to me.

No, it's not registering because it's wrong. :)

The experts are calling this the best offensive tackle draft in history - with 6 or 7 clear first rounders. There will be a quality LT available at 18... unless you're smarter than all of the experts. And most mocks have Simmons going after the 5th pick. Even if he's not there (and he likely will be), there will be other tremendous players available. This is a great draft. It'd be a shame to not take advantage of that and get multiple great prospects.

Im seeing some mocks that maybe the USC tackle and the Houston tackle could be there at#18 but they are not at the same level as the top 5. Don't you want a star LT if you make the trade? What if you trade down to #5 and its goes Burrow, tua, Okudha/Young and Simmons? Was it worth the trade down? I say hell no!!

Did I not just get through saying that there will be a quality LT available at 18???

Who in the bleep are you looking for the Skins to use at LT next season?

Those OT's are risks. Why pass up Young? I don't get it. There are two FA LT's out there in Peters and Glenn. Plus we have Christian. I don't think the organization ahs given up on this guy yet.
