How about the fact that there's been zero discussion of canceling the season by the very people who would be making that decision?

So Steven A and Windhorst are the go to guys to when the government will allow the NBA to start

nobody on this planet knows when this is going to end

every expert has said they dont know exactly

this is just starting

Not really, you're not.

First of all, those estimates are closer to worst case scenarios than what we are likely to see. The idea is to scare people into taking precautions.

It serves 2 purposes...one is obviously to stop this thing. The second is so that politicians can run around patting themselves on the back and telling us all about how their "swift and decisive action saved tens of thousands of lives".

Additionally, saying the NBA season won't resume when the only talk happening right now is about how to continue it...isn't exactly being realistic.

Of course, none of this means that there's a guarantee that the season will be completed in some manner. Flattening curves is a trend, trends can reverse.

But right now, the chances of the NBA finishing the season appear to be greater than the chances it won't.
To be fair, today's numbers in the US were not good. But not panic worthy either. I could see mayyyyybe 100k total deaths if some things break bad. That's worst case to me. 250k no way.

right now it appears greater that the season will resume....

where are you getting your facts from

You do realize there has been no talk of cancelling the season right? There's only been talk of continuing the season so yes TF12 is right when he said it appears greater that the season will resume.

Silver and his team wouldn't be open to the idea of playing into late August if they were ever considering seriously ending the season.

I would love to be able to watch the Raptors right now

Im just pointing put that as big as the NBA is to us, this pandemic trumps any of it.

the NBA is very low on the importance list right now

SAS and Windhorst has connections to people in the NBA front offices to know what teams FO are thinking. All seem on board to playing late into summer.

Nobody on this planet knows when it will end is true which is why you pay attention to what is happening in other countries especially the one that USA been compared to since day one which is Italy.

The new cases in Italy are going down.

lol

It's not necessarily up to the government. That's not how it works here.

The government isn't why the NBA stopped playing.

If the NBA wants to complete their season and they have found a safe way to do it...the government isn't going to stop them.

We also need to quit acting like it is do or die time for the NBA.

It is March 31st.....not May 31st.

They have 2.5 to 3 months before they need to seriously make a do or die decision.

You are wrong

when they have orders in place for certain amounts of people in 1 area they will stop it

This is expected and the way this virus work if you been paying any attention.

This isn't a surprise to anyone. Once again, it is going to reach the peak in 2-3 weeks depending on who you listen to.

There are going to be days that are worse than others at this stage. Areas that were hit later are going to get through the worst part later.

So yeah, if there are a couple more bigger cities (especially where citizens and/or local governments were late responding) we could see a few more worse days.

I'm not the experts but I think we would have gotten to our peak and should start seeing a decrease in # of new cases daily.

And different areas will peak at different times.

For example, if New York hasn't peaked, they will very soon because they were among the first hit.

Other areas, that were hit later, will peak later and depending on how populated it is, may not even effect overall numbers much.

After the Gobert incident, I'm inclined to agree.

Exactly, it was a wake up call to all of us. Check these guys Twitter feeds, they are all talking about helping their families, how to be safe, etc. Steph Curry did a freaking interview with Dr. Fauci.

Florida's multi-million dollar tourism industry tanking

Coronavirus Worries Slash Fortunes Of The World’s Richest Sports Owners By $72 Billion

Holy shit, i am smart

BTW Dan Gilbert is now worth 2 billion more than old Mickey and his inherited Carnaival cruise lines from his daddy

It's still a good time to short anything to do with Florida and travel, housing there is next, i would recommend shorting the Reits along with the cruise lines like i have been...But what would i know, i have only been right this entire time...(you are probably to dumb to understand shorting so don't respond)

Considering you didn't form one coherent sentence, I wouldn't really be calling anyone dumb.

And the funny thing about this epidemic is that most of these companies, including Carnival cruise lines will bounce back. And in the end, having the most money doesn't buy you titles; considering this is a salary capped league. But hey, what do I know?

Moving the goal post now

Everything i said would happen did happen, and you called it dumb. Seems pretty coherent to me. Florida is ground zero to getting owned. BTW Carnival just had to raise 8 billion dollars in debt, and their market cap is around 8 billion, and eliminated the dividend. Their equity is basically worthless at this point...I could see the airlines bouncing back, but nobody has to take a cruise, and dumb old Mickey ain't getting bailed out. His company is registered in Panama, so he can't even participate in the 2 trillion dollar bailout because he doesn't own a US company lol

Money most def buys championships, and owners who just lost half their net worth are unlikely to want to spend on FA's, would you want to spend money after losing 50% of your net worth? I doubt it...Most of the last championship teams were #1 or 2 in payroll

You said that Arison would have to start trading away players, dumbass. Of course cruise lines are going to be impacted by this epidemic. Doesn't mean that Arison's business is going away. It means he's going to take a short-term hit, as are a ton of other companies.

And if money was the end all be all, why hasn't Balmer's (who's the richest owner in the league) been to the conference finals, let alone actually win a title? Stupid fuck.
