If I were Dak I’d ask people to name all the other really good QBs who took FA discounts in the past so the team could sign other players.

If its your first contract I wouldn't take less but I don't see anyone paying Dak Prescott the money he is looking for

you could be right...most of the talking heads say if Dak were on the open market he'd get 35 plus.
I think the lowest he'd get is around Goff & wentz money

I mean, that's what you like to see.
One RB taking advice from another......

Oh, c'mon! It was right there the whole time!

This is kinda my point...let's say max value is $35 mil per...what's the big deal if he takes $28 mil per to stay in DAL?

If we're taking about $12mil vs $5 mil...that $7 mi gap is a huge number.

When you're getting $35 mil vs $28 mil...leaving $7 mil on the table is not a huge number.

before emmits deal (I believe he signed in 1996, missed opening day)

6 seasons
93 games
2007 carries
8,956 yards
4.5 per carry
96 TD's
96.3 YPG
4 rushing titles
3 seasons of 18+ rushing TD's (twice over 20)

6 seasons after he signed (including that season he signed)

92 games
1,791 carries
7,231 yards
4.0 per
52 TD's
78.6 per game
0 rushing titles
never scored more than 13 TD's in a year

2 carries per game difference. scored half the TD's.

dont pay RB's.

and emmits a hypocrite.

That downturn wasn't from getting paid, it was from wear/tear/age. These star athletes are artificially underpaid by the NFL system, especially in previous years, by those rookie contracts. If Emmitt was a free agent after 3 years, he would've gotten paid big then, and would still have been that elite back.

So if your applying for a job and the going rate for said job is $35 a hour, you would be fine taking $28 a hour?

It's a big deal for his agent....sure the notion was that he took a discount, but the agent also has intentions to get a bigger deal to set up further clients. Guaranteed he's in Prescotts ear giving his opinion on whether he should take a home town discount.

Brandy's wife is worth 400 MILLION he can afford to give a discount, I don't recall Ben giving a discount, and Brees' discount came long after he got paid large sums of money. This is Daks first chance at cashing in.

7M is huge no matter how you slice it. If he signs for the reported 33M or even slightly less, that should be seen as a team discount at this point.

In hind sight Dallas should have paid him the 28M this time last season.

I can't agree with this and I know his agent sure doesn't. Maybe IF this wasn't Dak's first contract after his rookie 4th round deal you'd have a point

4 years times 7M is 28M.
That a bunch of money for a player who's far and away outplayed his contract for the last 4 years

Ben gave a discount on his 3rd deal not his 2nd. At least that's how I see it looking back at his contract history.
Talk was he took less than he could to help his line out. But it don't matter . Daks gonna get paid. Jerry screwed up with his contracts this year.

I see he was the highest paid in 2008 the year he signed. Now 2015 he signed for basically the same amount he signed in 08. I'd say that was a discount.
Just my opinion.
