Hilarious, coming from a guy who held out and missed games while he sought a monster deal!

The only reason for Dak to consider a "hometown discount" would be if it was the difference between signing with Dallas or leaving to go elsewhere AND he felt by adding in the endorsements he gets in Dallas and the benefit of having no State Income tax that he could more than offset it by staying in Dallas. But since the Cowboys do nothing other than say they will resign him and he is their guy why would he even do such a thing when no one else would either? Has any QB done such a thing on their first big contract?

I think it's safe to say the difference is titles. Until Dak wins a title, he should give a hometown discount. He should have to earn his salary. Can't even make the playoffs consistently and expects to be paid top dollar? Ridiculous.

I think Emmitt got loose on that Herradura tequila before this interview.

It's ironic because of who he is...your last sentence is spot on.

But...the content of what he saying is correct...it's a hard cap league...if he wants to keep star caliber talent around him, in this case, the money he's likely leaving on the table is not going to hurt him at all....$4 or 5 mil per if he's making $28 mil per.

A RB...they have to get it when they can get it...Frank Gore is a phenom of sorts. The Gurley, Bell, and David Johnson, Devante Freeman contracts should be enough to reset the bar lower on RB 2nd contracts...Barkley and Chubb might be the last 2 to reap a big 2nd contract.

Dak should respond with “I’ll take a hometown contract if you make it guaranteed for the full term”

Hometown discount, LOL..

Dude if I was an NFL player fuck that noise. I'm going for the highest guaranteed and most ridiculous contract I can get. That said, Texas of where all NFL teams is located is pretty darn affordable. Top half in most affordable states. I'd be willing to give a slight discount there. Yah he could go to Ohio which is better (but Jesus it's Ohio), Florida is somewhat comparable, or gets stuck in LA Chargers BLEH.

If I had my choice I'd be willing to take a little less to stay in Dallas. That said...

Pat Mahomes is KILLIN' it... Missouri is like top 5 in most affordable states. He just bought a $2M home there. 4K square feet with huge amenities, pool, etc. in a Country Club. That'd probably cost $6-8M in Cali not to mention the glorious 15% state income tax he'd be about to incur.

Goff must've been fuckin' PISSED when they moved to LA.

Emmit Smith, like every other former great player needs to just shut the fuck up already. It's none of their damn business and every one of them, to a man, would be after the biggest payday they could get.

Why doesn't Emmitt toss in his Herradurra money to make up the difference? Stupid big mouth.

This is my view on this deal.

#1...Dak had a very good season by NFL standards, and his best ever by his standards...he led a 6th rank OFC and DAL won 8 games. That kinda tells me that he's not the true catalyst of the team...i.e. when he plays well the team wins.

He's got a top RB, and a top WR, to go with a noted top OL.

#2...Give the Cowboys a little discount in exchange for more guaranteed money...stay in (no state income TX). Helps to retain Cooper or other talent and he's still a very rich man.

#3...At 26...assuming his performance stays on this track, there's a good shot he will cash in on at least a 2 yr deal to pad his retirement.

Make Jerry pay like he did for Zeke, sign the high dollar deal and continue to miss the playoff's or say bye in round 1. Give Jerry the massive heart attack then the Cowboy's can move on.

Yep! Brand new! Still have that new car smell & everything!

And don't you let any of these creeps tell you otherwise. They'll fill your head with lies and made up garbage! "Oooh, moxie's smoking cigarette butts behind the penalty box with hammer again!" "Yeah, she's PM'ing bewbie pics for likes and we hate her so much!"

Bastards.
