I'm tired of putting up with my car's shit... And I can't start it, so I need a new one fairly soon. I haven't really done any research yet, because I wasn't expecting to buy one so soon.

Anyway, any recommendations from people?
Car - not an SUV or truck
I drive 60 highway miles a day, so something with 35+ mpg there
Fairly "easy" to work on. I do most repairs/maintenance myself

Growing up in Marysville, OH, I've always been a Honda guy, so I'm kind of leaning that way right now.

The company car I drive is a Toyota Corolla.
They seem cheap to buy, cheap to run, and cheap to maintain.

A lot of miles in a hurry. Some have over 300,000 miles on them with little to no trouble.

Even new, they don't seem to be that expensive.

Honda or Toyota you can't go wrong. I have a 2019 Camry Hybrid that gets 53 MPG and I've put 28K miles on it since February last year, no issues whatsoever

Good luck finding something that gets 35 MPG any more.

Do you need 4-wheel drive?

What? It looks like there are plenty of cars with 40 mpg highway...

No, It doesn't get too bad in Columbus. My last/current car is rear wheel drive.

I'd hate to have to drive an econoshitbox.

Especially on the highway.

Get a proper car. Smiles per gallon are more important.

I'll have to say, that the Toyota Corolla I drive at work is great for the Company, but a terrible drivers car.

Lots of road noise.
Lots of wind noise.
Handling is shit.
Little power.

But it gets you from point A to point B for less money than most anything else.

Look into Hyundai in your price range. They've stepped their game up immensely lately. South Korea has pretty much become the highest tech country in the world with all cell phones and computer processors made there these days. That's trickling into everything they do.

I think the Sonata was just redone or is brand new this year and just coming out.

I've had a Sonata for 11 years. The only things I've had to replace or fix are tires, battery, brakes, fluids, a headlamp and replacement wipers.

I don't think I indicated a price range (I am coming from a Mercedes), but I will try to consider Hyundai and Kia.

I don't HAVE to do anything.

I'd just rather vacation in Nice than drive a Lexus

I'm currently running around in a Cadillac SRX. I've been very happy with it. The 3.6 motor churns out 320 hp so acceleration is never a problem.

Do they supply the paper bags? I had a Kia Soul as a loaner once, while not a Sonata I felt naked driving it. I felt a need to be incognito..

Hyundai also just came out with the genesis badge/brand which supposedly competes very well with mercedes bmw and audi. And is supposed to be way more fun to drive than the Japanese luxury cars.
