Every team has injuries. Being the owner of a franchise and hiring a guy who wasn't willing to take on responsibility of being the President of Basketball Operations is a rather large indictment. Again, Lakers are dominant this year because Lebron's more reseted, they have AD, and they have better shooters around Lebron. Lue won a title with Lebron and has that on his resume, why would he have to prove himself? Also, in what batshit crazy world do you tell a head coach who's going to be on his staff? That doesn't fly in any sport with any organization. How do you then properly evaluate a head coach from a GM perspective, if you saddled him with assistants instead of letting him chose?

And again, you have 2 top 5 NBA players. I'm pretty sure I could go coach the Lakers right now and they'd have a winning record.

So the Lakers made a mistake not hiring Lue?

Problem was Lue made DEMANDS.

For some reason you keep forgetting to mention that the Lakers offered him 3 years he DEMANDED 5.

And the Lakers front office is dysfunctional for what exactly? Saying no to him?

I never said the Lakers made a mistake by not hiring Lue. The entire situation in which they handled his situation was a mistake. For one, how are you going to tell a coach that has an NBA title to his credit that he doesn't earn a 5-year deal (when those are pretty standard throughout the league)? And how are you going to tell an experienced coach who's going to be on his staff?

I've already outlined what I thought made the Lakers staff dysfunctional. Your first statement already leads me to believe that you're taking this down the route of Wiggy. So I already know where this debate's going.

For head coach yes. What team is Kidd head coach of?

I don't know, but the Lakers seemed hell bent on making sure he was an assistant on staff. What has he done to warrant that type of cache?

I know exactly where this is going.

For the first time in almost a decade the Lakers aren't a complete fuck up and there are people looking for fault in pretty much anything

For the first time in about 8 years the Lakers fans have finally something to cheer for. Yet all we've heard is:

Their schedule is weak
Their opponents were injured
Their front office is a mess
Anyone can coach AD and Lebron to a great record
The regular season doesn't matter
We're only a quarter of the way in

How about a "The Lakers look great. Enjoy. You fuckers finally deserve it"?

I have yet to see anyone say not hiring Lue was a mistake. That isn't our point.

Point is you can't be mad at Lue for wanting to select his own staff and not being forced to have Kidd on his staff. Unless you're a blind homer, I think most can be understanding on why that would be a problem for most coaches.

You can be happy with Vogel/Kidd and still understand why Lue did not want the job after being told he needed to have Kidd on his staff.

Those were the terms and conditions given. What's the big deal about that? You don't accept, no problem, no big deal, move on.

Other coaches were willing to accept.

Bucks went from a mediocre team to title contenders immediately the year after once they fired shitty ass Jason Kidd but yeah Kidd is some great coach that a new hire must bring on as his assistant lmaoo

Journeymen NBA players make the best coaches.

Their schedule is weak

It was weak. Getting tougher now but the schedule through end of November was weak. Stating facts is a problem?

Their opponents were injured

Not sure who said this one.

Their front office is a mess

It was a mess. There several post from last season where Lakers fans basically admitted this.

Anyone can coach AD and Lebron to a great record

Heat fans heard this throughout the big 3 era. Warriors fans heard it once Durant got there. Cavs fans heard it with their big 3. Usually when you have a team with multiple top 10/15 players with one being a superstar, this will always be said. It is what it is.

The regular season doesn't matter

It doesn't for teams who are title or bust. Titles are won in May and June. Not december and January.

We're only a quarter of the way in

Is that not a fact? Yes or no?

How about a "The Lakers look great. Enjoy. You fuckers finally deserve it"?

This is problem always had with Lakers fans years ago when they were good. It was always a problem if you didn't agree with them about their team.

Finally deserve what? 6 years of struggle is nothing. Every team in the league gone a much longer period of time without being title contenders/competitive

So what what was this TT vs Whiteside thread then? To me it looked like Heat fans trying to defend one of their players from an idiot making ridiculous claims.

Pat Riley lost his fastball. Remember that one?

So it's ok for some fans from a certain teams to defend their stance on a particular subject but once the Lakers fans do it, it's a "problem"

Really? So you're going to compare the expectations of the Los Angeles Lakers to teams like the Hornets or Pacers?

"You shouldn't be pissed off because the Hornets sucked too" Yeah, see how well that works out for Lakers fans who've seen 10 championships in their lifetime and have guys like Kareem, Magic, Shaq, Kobe and Wilts jerseys in the rafters.

Heat fans also admitted that some of the contracts that were handed out weren't the best. Miami fans are probably the harshest critics of Spo as well. And Whiteside is far from a great player, he's anything but, but cot damn if he's still not better than TT.

So why are you seeking sympathy for your team being non-existent in a title contending scenario for 6 years? I grew up loving the Miami Hurricanes and watched them dominate college football since the late 80's. They suck now and have been irrelevant for 15 years, I'm not going to whine all over a forum seeking sympathy because of it.

Yet you still get defensive every time a fan from another team says something negative about the Heat.

I get it, Lakers fans need to STFU

Who is seeking sympathy?

I'm defending bullshit arguments which are simply laughable.

But because i'm a Lakers fan, it's all "Oh those Lakers fans are being assholes again"
