I consider this to be a stopgap measure until UConn can finally get an ACC invite.

1. This isn't the Big East that UConn fans had grown to love. They would be the only public school in the conference.

2. The ACC will expand again in the next decade to help the growth of their cable network. UConn and Cincinnati are perfect for that purpose.

UConn is never going to get an ACC invite

Season is about to start.

BE should be much improved this year(especially if preseason KenPom is accurate). A handful of teams coming in with lots of hype based more of potential.

I think Nova finishes Top 2. Then I think there are 6 other teams capable of finishing literally anywhere 2-7 with a few having a chance to win the league.

BE has some teams with some good experience, so good opportunity to get some early season wins.

Stacked early season schedule with Gavitt, B12, and bunch of early season tournaments.

Yeah the schedules are pretty strong right out the gates for a lot of these teams.

Marquette has Purdue and Wisco before their holiday tourney even. Will be a nice test. Appears we will be short handed for those which isnt ideal.

BE preseason POY Myles Powell, major ankle sprain, out for forseeable future.

Taking on a brutal early season schedule not such a good idea...

So far we are only 2-4 games in for every team so the sample size is very small.

That said, this sample size has given basically 0 clarity.

DePaul looked impressive in their first high major game and they were perceived to be 10th.

Right now, I still feel pretty confident that Butler and SJU will ultimately be bottom dogs(still capable of winning). And Providence appears to appropriately be the jekyl and hyde team as expected.

Also tough because a handful of squads are dealing with key missing pieces right now. I know Creighton has a couple guys out, Marquette is without Johnson,Providence without Watson and Butler missing some big guy(not sure how good he is). Could be more from the other teams.

Subpar showing so far.

Nova getting wrecked and G'town getting wrecked at home were especially bad. Providence losing to NW bad but on the road and they came back strong.

It's a bit odd this year, because I think every conference is going to go into conference play with a number of bad losses, SEC especially.

That said, Big East has almost no quality wins so far except Purdue, need to win the Big 12 challenge, or looking at another season of 6 through 10 seeds.

DePaul moves to 7-0(against D1 teams) with another road win against a P5 team. They've been a great surprise thus far. I don't think BC and Minnesota are any good, but that Iowa win is gonna be a Q1 win for sure. At worse the Gophers and BC should be a Q2 win.

Solid game without Markus. Second half was a bit of sloppy cruise control but it was still encouraging as a game. Appears Markus will be fine for Saturday(huge game to make the non con solid).

I really want to see Torrence get more run against quality teams. Lets see what hes got. He came a year early and the guy is far and away the most comfortable with the ball in his hands and knows how to move it, a true PG. Let's see if hes ready to be an all around contributor. I'll be much less worried about the backcourt if that happens.

Another solid game from Cain. Role players are stepping into their roles which is nice. Unfortunately none will ever be accountable game to game but if guys take turns its ok. McEwen needs to figure his shit out.

Against great teams we are still Markus or bust tho, hence the bust on Sunday.

DePaul and Butler a combined 16-0 against D1 competition. Will DePaul be 17-0 when they travel to Nova? Not out of the realm of possibility.

I was at the gm. It was a fucking blast and court storming made the car ride to the expressway perfect. I’m for storming courts at every sporting event I go to from now on. No traffic
