I thought it was ironic Leo won the emmy for that movie.
Since I thought Tom Hardy was the best actor in that movie.
It was an awesome movie though.
Leo won the Emmy for this? That’s amazing seeing as he also won the Oscar. Has anyone ever won both the Emmy AND Oscar for the same role?

That said, Hardy clearly stole the show. I remember being quite vocal about that fact on these boards at the time. Hardy put himself in the upper atmosphere of actors in my book after this movie.

All good. Everyone should love the movies they love.

I loved Red Dawn in 1984. I was a 16 year little Reaganite. That movie had a non-zero impact on my decision to join the Army several years later.

But it was a pretty bad film as far as films go. Lots of other great bad films, mind you. Hell most Swayze movies are somewhere between bad bad and bad amazing.

I liked him in Dirty Dancing too. :D

I could have the awards mixed up. but my point was I thought how did he win the award when Hardy was better in the very same movie.

I am sorry, I meant the Oscar not the Emmy in my post.

Different categories. Leo was Lead Actor, Hardy was Supporting Actor.

Hobbs & Shaw - Exactly the type of movie you'd expect it to be with this one. Some decent action sequences and enjoy the chemistry between Statham and The Rock. 3.5 out of 5 stars

I saw it. I would have enjoyed it more if the Rock and Statham did bitch like a couple of school kids through 85% of the movie. It got old pretty quick.

I will admit some of the jokes they did about each other fell flat but I'm going to blame more of the writers for that than the actors. Sometimes even the good ones can't overcome bad writing.

The only place they tried to be funny was between those two. They need to go elsewhere to break up their tiresome banter. That is probably why some of those jokes fell flat. Give it time to breathe.

Watched the original Batman with Nicholson and Keaton again. I had forgotten how good it was. They did a great job making the film have a comic book feel with live actors.

Avengers endgame last night. I had inadvertently caught a spoiler for one of the main cast dying off, and basically had to watch it before more was spoiled.

The movie was okay. A bit more drama than I expected. Kinda slow until the end. The end was fantastic, although I knew who was going to die at the end. Damn spoilers!

Cannot handle Dirty Dancing or Ghost.

Road House on the other hand....

I'm a sucker for the whole "Going to the Catskills" for a summer vacation in the country thing.

I was too young to go but my mom, aunt's, uncles etc all used to up to the Catskills every year.

It: Chapter 2 - 6.5/10

Wasn't as good as I was hoping, but it was okay nonetheless. A fair amount of solid comedic moments in it too.

Flew to Chicago and back, so I saw a couple movies...

Shazam

Going in, I knew that the target audience was younger boys, so I judged it accordingly. It was ok. Not great. The bus scene really bothered me because he caught the bus, and supported it, by placing his hands squarely on the windows. I understand he has super-powers. I can accept that. But are we supposed to assume that his super strength transfers to a pane of glass?

7/10

Tolkien

Actually very well done. I tried to watch Pokémon first, but only made it through about 20 mins before I turned it off. I chose this instead and was very glad I did.

8.5/10

Fury

WW2 movie with Brad Pitt and Shia LaBouf. Not bad. The young kid was the best actor in the movie though. Don’t know why Pitt was trying to speed talk through half his lines.

I realized yesterday I hadn't watched any of my extended BluRays of LOTR on my new big TV and 7:2 sound system.

So I sat down and watched Two Towers.

I was not disappointed.

Fucking awesome in fact.

Watched over the weekend:

Spiderman 2 Far From Home: I thought it was okay, ultimately underwhelming and just somewhat unbelievable. I know how that sounds coming from a series about superheroes, aliens, gods, titans, eternals, etc... However, the post credit scene did make me wonder what they were going to do going forward, but since Sony took it... probably nothing. I am kind of burnt out on superhero movies too, maybe that had an impact on my viewing. 6/10

Child's Play - Better than I thought when I heard about it basically being AI gone bad type of thing. But I also found it completely inconsistent. The way Chucky acts in the last 20-30 minutes changes GREATLY and is inconsistent with how he was acting previously as well as what he is saying currently (at that point in the movie). Theme was a nice touch though slightly overused, had some funny parts, Hamill's voice as Chucky was ok, but would have still preferred Dourif. 4.5/10

In the Tall Grass - I mean wtf. This movie acted as a time travel, groundhog day/ happy death day style with no fucking answers to ANYTHING. Patrick Wilson is a solid actor and should have greater success than he has had. All in all, it wasn't terribly acted, not great though. It didn't look bad, but then again the movie is 90% mud and grass, 5% street, 3% rock/concrete building, 2% chruch... I mean there wasn't much to it. This movie completely suffered from its incoherent storytelling and lack of ANY answers relating to the why or the what the fuck. 3.5/10

Deciding for tonight between: The Lighthouse, Zombieland Double Tap, Terminator Dark Fate (probably not), and seeing Joker a second time
