The NFC is much stronger than the AFC.

Yeah, they've been impressive, have a hellified DL, a damn good, maybe great, run-blocking OL and some explosive RBs. But despite his 15-2 record or whatever as a starter. I'm not sold on Jimmy G.,

We already have a bunch of these threads and the talking heads on the networks are going all gaga over them. Good team and good on them but JimmyG hasn't really done or had to do anything special. Let's wait and see how it all plays out. God forbid Kittle gets hurt or some other key injuries. Not wishing bad karma here. It's just that we are only halfway. The real test for every team is down the stretch. Attrition, tougher competition play big roles and experience matters.

I think they are one of the better teams in the league. It will be interesting to see how they do in the playoffs

The 49ers are equivalent to last year's Chicago Bears. ...They snuck up on us and are the beneficiaries of a weak schedule.

We'll have a much better grasp of who the 9ers are after they've played the Seahawks, Packers, Ravens and Saints.

Their QB play is a A LOT better than Chicago's with Trubisky. Chicago's offense straight up was not good last year. SF's is above average. They don't need their D to score for them per se.

Highly doubtful. Jimmy G has hardly been overwhelming.

That's why the NFL should be worried. They're beating these teams like a drum when Jimmy hasn't been playing anywhere near his best football. He's been missing easy passes all the time. ACL rust???

There's no guarantee his play will elevate past that, but it's definitely a fixable flaw. Also, he's been doing it with both starting OTs out with injuries.

We will see. Jimmy G plays like a top 10 QB and the 49ers might be the best team in the NFL after all.

For now, I am selling on that until proven otherwise.

Kyle Shanahan 'Hopeful' on Upcoming Joe Staley, Ahkello Witherspoon Returns

"The biggest news from the head coach was the potential return of Ahkello Witherspoon and Joe Staley. Witherspoon suffered a foot sprain in the Week 3 home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers and was expected to miss “at least a month.” According to Shanahan, the cornerback is ahead of schedule as the 49ers are hoping to get Witherspoon back leading up to the Week 8 matchup against the Carolina Panthers.

"He’s going in the right direction," Shanahan said of the cornerback. "I think there’s a better chance next week. I do not expect him having a chance this week.”

(Panthers week)

The 49ers have been without their veteran left tackle since Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals with a broken fibula. Staley did light conditioning ahead of Sunday’s contest against the Rams. Shanahan is hopeful to get Staley back prior to the 49ers Week 9 divisional matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

"I'm still hoping for Arizona,” Shanahan said. “That's where I'm looking at for him. Maybe a chance for Carolina, but I would consider that very lucky. In my mind, I'm hoping for Arizona."
