I honestly think .500 should be a lock for them.

Should beat the Phins 2X, Skins, Giants, and Cincy for sure. That is already 6 wins then I think they should find a way to win at least 2 of 4 vs the Jags, Raiders, Ravens, and Steelers.

I will be disappointed if they don't finish 8-8 once Darnold doesn't get hurt

Again....it really depends on Darnold. I don't think I can say 'Jets are a lock' for anything at this point.

I'm thinking best case for the Jets is 7-9, no playoffs.

Jets upcoming game with the pats is really the last big test for the Pats within the division. They’ve already gone to buffalo and Miami and won. After the jets game all remaining games are at home. The afc east is not by any means the toughest division in football but there is usually at least one loss in there for NE. This game represents the best chance of that happening.

Just sayin...

They'll definitely be more competitive but I feel like they've dug themselves too big of a hole... They'd have to go 7-3 the rest of the way to get 8 wins... I see them going 3-4 or maybe 4-3... 6-10 is where'd I put them personally...

I disagree. That schedule is weak enough where 20-24 points with their defense should be good enough to win most of those games

Not a fan of Dallas and think they're overrated but even Dallas is better than most of these teams
maybe. I just dont see it

The schedule for the rest of the year is pretty weak if you ask me

VS NE
AT Jags
AT Miami
VS NYG
AT WSH
VS OAK
AT Cincy
VS MIA
AT BAL
VS PITT
AT BUFF

They'd be lucky to get 5 - 6 the rest of the way - very lucky.

That said, they do play Miami twice!

They finally looked like a real football team yesterday with their QB back. They do have a defense that is good enough to keep them in most games once the offense isn't making silly mistakes.

My question is can they finish with a winning record/possibly make the playoffs?

The DEF is legit...I still don't think they have enough on OFC to do any real damage in the playoffs, but can they make it?

Odds are long.

I don't think they make it but I do think they'll be in the hunt late in the season if Darnold stays healthy

The problem is much like PIT the margin for error to the playoffs is razor thin...0-2 in DIV, 0-3 in Conf. In addition, I see at least 4 Ls here, NE, @JAX, @ BAL, @ BUF...OAK, and PIT will be 50/50 type games.

I don't think the Jax or Bal is guaranteed losses. Especially not the Jags. That QB looked real regular when he played a good defense last weekend. Baltimore is a wild card. Still don't know what to think of them.

I agree on New England and Buffalo.

They might get above .500 if all goes well but a lot of those games they should win with Darnold are 50/50 because the Jets year after year without fail find ways to lose games they should win. And Darnold has to stay healthy for sure. The rest of the offense is below average and Gase is a shitty coach.
As easy as one can see 8 wins on that schedule, I can see 5-6 potential losses too. Pats, Bills, Ravens, Raiders, Steelers and even Bungals or Giants. Never know but it's entirely possible with a 1-5 start. Hard to overcome that hole. Defense is pretty good but a little inconsistent.

BAL is not a lock, I agree with you there, but that Jets OFC going on the road and beating a playoff caliber team is not something I would bank on...Ravens will likely be favored in that one.

JAX is more like a 50/50 game...still, it will be very tough for them to pull even 9 wins out of the remainder of that schedule.

This
They are 1 and 4. In order to make the playoffs they will need 9/7 or most probably 10/6. That means they have to go 8/3 or 9/2 the rest of the way.
They do not have the talent to do that.

The Bills and Patriots have similar easy schedules. Will 3 teams from the AFC East make the playoffs? Doubtful.

They'd have to go 8-3 (which is actually 9-3, since the win on Sunday) to get a winning record, which I think is a bridge too far. I don't think they get into the playoffs at .500. The schedule certainly helps, but they're more likely to lose a winnable game (say, Jacksonville) than win a tough game (New England).

It's possible, but not likely, IMO.

Yep. And when the Pats visit the Jets Monday night NY's Mean Green Machine will bitch-slap the Uggs right off of Tommy Boy.

Okay, probably not.
