and on THIS particular note i'm certain a certain poster said " you can't play basketball on grass", referring to how the Chiefs play offense...

not that the neurotic sack of shit'll be man enough to show up and take his lumps...

but then that's how he's always rolled...

Now I can't imagine who would have said something dumb like that. I'll take a guess though, was this person an OKC fan at any time?

So he is a little better in 5 games this season? lol we saw what he did last year. Baker needs to improve no doubt. Last night he wasn't the best but if you look at the stat line it won't tell you the whole story. OL looks like the worst in the league, 5 drops - 1 for an easy wide open TD. The fact is he isn't getting much help....he can have all the talent in the world but if you don't have an OL and you aren't a scrambler it's hard to win games. Baker just needs to get better under pressure...he has a lot of things to work but through one season he is STILL better than Allen...that is laughable.
Hell I could even see Allen becoming a very good QB. But Teddy Bridgewater?

It's a lot of things.

As I've mentioned before, there's a book on him now. DC's know his strengths and weaknesses and they are concentrating on limiting his strengths. It's up to him to address that and adjust to it. So far, he either hasn't done that or hasn't figured out how to translate it to the game yet.

His o-line is worse than last year, but he doesn't help by holding onto the ball too long trying to make the plays he made in college. He could do himself some good by watching Russell Wilson. He has been playing behind subpar o-lines for most of his career. He's mastered being able to move in the pocket and extend plays until a receiver comes open.

Roethlisberger and Rivers would be good for him to watch too, they keep plays alive by moving in the pocket without scrambling. To be fair though, they are also 6'5" compared to Mayfield's 6', so they don't have to move to be able to see over their linemen.

He's also facing better teams than he did last year.

Imo, it's not really about working on what he did last year as it is about adding to what he did last year so defenses can't just key on what he did last year.

I don't know what watching Russell Wilson will help. He's far faster and quicker than Baker. Baker needs to focus on playing more within the pocket, or the OC needs to design rollouts if the line can't hold up. These improvised (or panicked) rollouts really aren't working.

And Baker played well last year with Landry, a rookie who hadn't played in a year and a 4th rounder who had done little.

Some on that list are amusing. were you serious?

Yes I am. Key word is as of today. This wasn't a list for next year or the future seasons. Strictly for this season.

Baker is trash

Should have addressed the line issue in the summer. It was clear to everyone that the line would be a major problem
Unfortunately not to Dorsey. Not only did he deal Zeitler, he thought Corbett could replace him which stopped him from going after help in FA.

well(in my best dtgold voice) "to be fair..."

the 9ers came close to ringing up 300 yards running the ball yesterday...

so it more of a STEAMROLLING than a "shootout" in my humble estimation...:dhd:
more than fair. Kind of thought this game might help you understand the difference. If you think this game was the same as one where the Browns were in the game into the 4th I can't help ya.

Hard to set a rookie record for TDs on a team coming off an 0-16 team and just not be good. Thinking maybe overreacting to the bad is as absurd as it is to the good?

Have you not noticed many QBs this year are playing well against bad defenses and struggling against the good ones. He's been no different.

That record needs a big asterisk, as Mahomes was DQed for playing 1 game in 2017.

I don't want to sound like I'm defending Mayfield. I'm not. He's not playing good. But put just about any current QB in the league behind that terrible OL and see what happens. Baker's one of the problems. But I don't think he's the main problem.

good thing there are 11 games left and we can also remember what each did last season.

As far as those 11 games left this season, I would say the trends are working against Baker.

Correct...or let him play against the TB D like TB just did and you might get a different result (like they did against a weaker Bmore defense).

you could, but then you could remember he hasn't fattened up yet on teams like Cinci, Miami, Az.

Hell I could even see Allen becoming a very good QB. But Teddy Bridgewater?

Excuse me but Teddy Touchdown's was a Pro Bolwer in '15 when he guided the Vikings to the playoffs. He's proven he can play. And it's not like the Saints are lacking weapons. Hell if the defense doesn't rush I could even throw a TD in a game with all that talent in the Big Easy.

Wanted to mention one more thing. Just looked this up but 2 years ago the 49ers won 6 games. Odd that you said they were one of the worst teams in the league when these teams won less than 6 games.

Browns- the goose egg!
Giants- 3
Colts & Texans- 4
Bucs, Bears, Broncos, Jets- 5

:heh:
Pretty sure it was the year they were 1-10 then won their last 5 with Jimmy G.
