It wouldn't shock me if they eventually shut him down for the season. If he experiences what I did how long would it take him to not just get in shape for a normal person, but game shape as a pro athlete?

2-4 weeks to get "healthy". another 2-3 of putting weight back on, introducing regular food, and workouts. then back to practices and game shape.

this may be a season thing. you're right.

I got really sick back in 1998 when I was 25. After 3 weeks, I went to the hospital and they did biopsies. Diagnosed me with lymphoma. Turned out I had a rare strain of mono. Damn Indiana women!

Went through something similar about a year ago. Neck was swollen to fuck with recurring sore throat for over a month. They did the whole ultrasound/biopsy/CT scan/bloodwork spiel and eventually just said I had unusually large lymph nodes and a mild strain of mono.

Pretty sure I got it from this Cuban bitch who grew pot in her basement and lived in the middle of the woods.

Yeah, that's way worse that just one week. Granted, I had a fairly extreme case, but I missed a month and a half of my junior year when I had it and I lost so much weight it wasn't even funny.

I assume that even with an average case, he'll be sick for at least 2-3 weeks and he'll be weak as hell after that.

2-4 weeks is how long you're sick/contagious, but he'll likely lose a lot of weight and be pretty weak on the other side.

I had mono (aka mononucleosis) also. It's no joke. The doc said absolutely NO contact sports for fear of my swollen spleen rupturing. Hell, I couldn't do anything anyway. I had no energy. I lost 25 pounds in about 2 weeks. All I could keep down was applesauce and pudding. I got it around August and wasn't full strength until around Thanksgiving.

Yep. I for about a week, I couldn't keep anything down. Only reason doc didn't hospitalize me is because I was still drinking water.
