ND's backup is talented but obviously lacks experience. We have some really easy games on the schedule this season, so if we had to play our backup I think we'd go 7-5 or 6-6. It would make winnable games against UVA, Virginia Tech and USC probably toss ups. Would still definitely beat UL, New Mexico, Bowling Green and Navy. Probably BC as well.

You're underselling that. You'd be starting a backup grad transfer QB from the University of Kentucky who has 13 in game pass attempts to his name. OSU would be in some serious trouble.
We still have more talent around the QB than anyone else on our schedule. Like he said, we'd struggle against the better teams, but our talent SHOULD lead us to a decent amount of wins.

We’ll either be running out a true freshman or a guy that was given a scholarship because he knows the system. Running game and o line should be good enough to win most games, but playoff hopes would be over

Quentin Harris hasn't really proved much so far, though I'd imagine if we lose him that's another 3 losses tacked on the season.

Not if fields goes down. If Fields goes down game one (lets say), what teams left on the schedule would OSU be better at, at the QB position? Miami Ohio and Rutgers?

We're also returning a 1,000 yard back, 70 reception WR (along with a ton of talent beside him), talented, but fairly inexperienced (3 have significant playing time) offensive line, one of the best D lines in the country, and a defensive backfield that will probably have 2 guys drafted within the first 2 rounds next year.

I'd bet $100 on at least 8 wins.

behind alan bowman,
tech has jett duffey -
jett has a nice dual-threat skillset
and made several fantastic plays last year,
but had a tendency to follow-up those
with a wtf-is-he-doin play -

will see playin time,
and will be interesting to see
if he's improved his decision-makin -

guns up!!

They still just have so much more talent on the rest of their team compared to most of their opponents that they could make him a game manager and win games.

I took off 3 wins. So, starting QB responsible for about 25-30% of the victories... Seems reasonable to me

We havent even named a starter which means they all suck equally or they are all pretty decent and it's hard to pick one. Most USC fans think Sears is the best option but think Clay will pick JT Daniels .

Guess I should have read my texts this morning before posting. lol. JT Daniels was named the starter. So What happens if he goes down? Good chance we get a bit better.

Of the top teams, tOSU is in the most precarious position to begin with. They don't have a proven no. 1. We still don't know what Fields can do, and I've been following him since his junior year in high school. He's never played a full season as a starter. Potential, absolutely he has it. Will be interesting to see what he does in game time.

Bama will be fine if this happens. Mac Jones is a good QB and could actually win some games with his arm and scrambling ability. He actually out played Tua in the Spring game.
Spring games don't mean squat in my opinion ... glorified scrimmages, and I was at your spring game. No one cares or cared.

With your schedule, you might win the west. But, LSU and TAMU suddenly become tests. We don' t know about Auburn because they are starting a true freshman, but he will have 11 games under his belt at that point in time. Your rotating game is at USCjr, and that might be a test, but likely not. UT still sucks. But, I could see you dropping at least one out of AU, LSU, TAMU, and USCjr.

We would be in big trouble ... our no. 2 was a PWO, went to JUCO, got an offer from UMass, and came back on scholly. He's a great kid, and decent QB, kind of a gamer type guy in high school. His teammates rave about him. But he's 5'9" with some snaps in late quarters. Our true freshman was ranked around 100, he's a 4*, but just had brain surgery. He won't be available until late this year, probably not all. We have a kid from LA who is a PWO who is surprising people in camp, but he didn't have any good P5 offers.

So, that would be really bad for us. We'd win the games we are supposed to win, but we'd lose at least 2 of ND, UF, AU, Mizzou, TAMU. Probably more.

I don’t know if I would even notice if we played without any QB at all.

That's probably true, 7/8 wins. But it would be entirely because of defense.
