Soroka pitched ok. Balls were hit hard but at people. Your BP got exposed. Oh and the Dodgers may not have the ROTY this year but between Verdugo, Will Smith, Matt Beatty, Dustin May and tony Gonsolin they have an amazing group that is making an impact on an already loaded club . Keep an eye out for Gavin Lux in Sept

Soroka had a better start than Ryu has had tonight.

Doesn't mean Ryu isn't the Cy Young favorite still. You judge by the body of work, not one game.

I'm sure Rockies and Reds fans felt the same way about Maddux in 1995.
LOL, you really gonna compare Ryu to Greg Maddux??!!!!!

Plus my post was a response to Jim on the last page who said Soroka wasn’t all he was hyped up to be and pitched OK

Context is key.

"Soroka allowed 3 runs in 6.2 innings, he's not all he's cracked up to be" was essentially what was said earlier in the thread.

Just a smart assed way of saying you don't judge a player by one game.

I do question Ryu's decision making tonight. Pitched around Acuna to get to Ozzie. If Ryu were a righty, strategy would make sense, but Ozzie is batting over .400 when he swings from the right side. He found out why when Ozzie knocked in two with a ringing double.

And I think it's safe to start calling Ryu "Josh Donaldson's Bitch"

Donaldson's been looking like his old MVP self for a good 2 months now...and to think Braves fans wanted him gone earlier in the season.

I was one of them. He was pretty damn useless the first 1/3 of the season. Glad he proved me wrong. I wouldn't say he's been at an MVP level, as he's at best the third best bat in the lineup, but he's been well worth the contract.

Since June 15 (55 games), he's hitting .299/.421/.650 (1.071 OPS) with 19 HR and 45 RBI. That's MVP level numbers for that stretch.

And I don't think he was as bad as you might've thought he was for the first third of the season, considering his OPS was around .850ish for that span (which is solid for 3B standards).

He was probably better than we were giving him credit for.

Our frustration was that we're a team that doesn't really spend money anymore, and we dropped 23 million dollars on a third baseman, making him the highest paid player on the team and that was a position that we felt was our deepest. Johan Camargo and Charlie Culberson both had solid seasons last year and Austin Riley was one of our top prospects, all the while we literally did nothing to address our biggest weakness over the offseason, which was, and still is the bullpen.

I think we all felt that 23 million would have been better spent on a few bullpen arms, and Donaldson getting off to a bit of a slow start, and the bullpen getting off to a terrible start added to it.

Donaldson came around and has more than been worth the contract. He proved a lot of us wrong when we were calling for his head in April. But really, I think our frustration was directed more at the front office than it was Donaldson.

I said nothing about Sorkas future. I said he pitched ok in that game. Ryu didn't have a typical game for him yesterday but he's still been the best pitcher in the National league.

Exactly. For those two games they both just pitched ok. See how I dont get all butt hurt and claim it's something that dooms their future is indicative of their season. I don't know much about Soroka and have no idea about his upside. I just watched that game where he pitched OK. Ryu has been one of if not the best pitcher in the National league all year and in yesterdays game he was OK. The Dodgers had chances to win but they didn't. The Braves are fighting to get into the playoffs and should be very motivated in every game.

You don't know much about Soroka, who is arguably in second place in the Cy Young race at 21 years old.

So you use outdated terms like butt hurt, and you're completely ignorant of the game outside of LA.

lol, the Braves have a 99.3% chance at making the playoffs, according to baseball reference. Won't be much of a fight. What an obtuse comment.
