Not Pete Alonso. Other than HRs Alonso has been average. But he plays for the Muts so he will win.

Alonso-3.7

I’d give it to Tatis Jr. He missed about a month and is still putting up those numbers

petes .363 OBP and .589 slugging is really nice too. but look at the K's. tatis has 22 fewer K's than alonso, in 33 fewer games (tatis fans at a higher rate). tatis only has 30 walks to alonsos almost 60. pete has a better walk rate.

tatis is .63 RBI/game
alonso is .72 RBI/game

both are great young hitters, but i think tatis missing a month ultimately hurts him.

I would too. I wish they would give 2 separate Rookie of the Years. 1 for pitchers and 1 for everyday players

yeah, he may be too little too late tho, and his defense. hes got what 12 errors? he got called up for good too late IMO to count.

yeah. He won't get the counting stats. I was just looking forward

Edit: 10 errors

That can be fixed by hard work

Huira is a stud at the plate. Just a legit all around hitter from what I’ve seen.

His defense is abysmal tho

"take away the thing he's among the best in the league at, he's average!"

can't argue with any of those three right now though IMO. Bryan Reynolds also merits some discussion (.338/.412/.542, 148 OPS+, 3.9 WAR).

I think that missed month is also a blessing for Tatis stat line. He's sporting a .410 BABIP and he's striking out a hair under 30%. I don't think anyone's had a .400+ BABIP over the last 15 years or so, so I have my doubts he'd be able to sustain that. I think that batting average will come down sooner or later. Don't get me wrong, I think he's going to be a great player. I just think he's overachieving.

Alonso is just another Adam Dunn type. Except Adam Dunn was 21 when he debuted instead of 24.

Really, 23 should be the cutoff age for ROTY. You're really screwing the player over if you hold them in the minors that long.

Fernando Tatis Jr. (back) is expected to be placed on the 10-day injured list on Thursday.
The club had been hopeful that he would be able to return to the lineup after a couple of days of rest, but that no longer appears to be the case. The star rookie shortstop did not travel with the team to Philadelphia and will undergo further tests on his ailing back on Thursday before a final determination is made. Luis Urias will continue to fill in at shortstop in his absence.
