High draft pick QBs are obviously picked by terrible teams.
So if a QB has a high end year but his team has a losing record.
Is it possible for them to win the rookie of the year?

You must be thinking of Clayton Thorson as a potential candidate. He might be the new face of the Eagles soon.

Sam Bradford did.

But in his defense those 7 wins were a career high.

Sure it’s for the best rookie not the best rookie on the best team, now being on a good team helps, but if a rookie on a losing team outperformed the rookie on the better team then the rookie on the losing team should win it

If not for a crazy great rookie year from Barkley ( on a losing team ) Mayfield would've won ( on a losing team )

I agree how it "should" be.

but lets face it. A Rookie RB (& other positions) are usually looked at for what they did. (not the team)
QBs though get judged on wins more than any other position.

I guess I could see a QB winning ROY with a losing record if there isnt any good possibilities.
but
If you had other rookie positions do well & a rookie QB that did better but with a losing record. I think they will lean towards the other player.

So while we agree on the "should" win it. What do you think on the "would" win it.

Yea I think that stigma for the mvp is fine, but for rookie of the year, especially because most of the high end talent gets taken by worse teams, how well the rest of the team performs shouldn’t matter

Well I think I am gonna vote no. The only exception to the rule is if the QB was the 1st pick in the draft. i guess that helps change the perceptions enough to overcome the losing record.

Dennis Shaw was the first ROY, in 1970.

Went 3-8-1 with 10 TDs and 20Ints. Idk, shitty class I guess.

There'd have to be really underwhelming performances from almost all the marquee skill guys.

No TE has ever won.

9 QBs have. 3/9 had losing records. The most recent being Cam Newton in 2011. But he threw for 4K and ran for over 700. And was a ProBowler as a rookie.

In other news, RGIII still isn't 30.
