I didn't watch last nights game but what you've stated above doesn't look good.

I hope that D-Line gets healthy quick because this O-Line needs as many reps possible against better players, no ?

Well they were all 2s and 3s so we gotta hope our O-line does not have much in the way of injury. We definitely need to get a new backup QB too. Savage aint cutting it but I will give him 1 more look. Hopefully Bevell has a bit more time put in with the offense this week too. Those guys were running in circles like the old electronic football games.

Davidson and Bevell might as well stop screwing around with all the varying rotations on the O-Line at this point and figure out the final starting five so they can create communication, cohesion, continuity and chemistry.

I understand the rotation changes up to this juncture (trying to get reps for versatility and who plays better at whichever position with whomever else is with that unit etc.), however, from here on out that 1st team unit needs to get significant reps together in order to gel. Davidson hasn't proven anything at this juncture with his so-called coaching abilities albeit the scheme is new. again.

This is one of many reasons as to why pre-season games are nothing more than weeding out the 2's and 3's.

I tried to record the game Friday, but for some reason it didn't. I'll try again this morning and watch it later when I'm able. My first thoughts after hearing the score was... no upgrades in the mix for starting positions which makes for another 3rd sting team again this year.

Consider yourself lucky. Its not hopeless as most of those guys wont make the team anyway, but the ones that do are not playing well.

I miss the over paid actors, at least they were predictable with their 4th quarter heroics.

I didn't watch. Hopefully this isn't the year that it all falls apart completely. They're the only Detroit team I haven't abandoned (temporarily I hope) due to being hopelessly abysmal.

I don't think much has changed for the Lions. They've scored all their points(3) in the 4th quarter for that forth quarter heroic come back. During the Super Bowl era the Lions have a Head Coaching graveyard(none of them ever went on to become an NFL head coach elsewhere). Seeing how the Lions were man handled I couldn't help but to bring a flash from the past...

I almost hope our backup QBs suck again so it becomes glaringly obvious to everyone that we need to get someone else.

Mike Martz didn't like Drew Stanton because of his mechanics. Stanton should've been the MAN over Dan Orlovsky. Stanton had experience running for his life behind the Michigan State Offense Line.

Our 0-16 squad went 4-0 in the preseason so I am going to hope this is a silver lining.

pre-season is nothing more than tryouts for depth and newly drafted players to get reps. I'm not and haven't been a rah, rah type regarding pre-season games going as far back as the late 1990's. The FA granted back in the mid 90's started the influx of keeping starters out as much as possible and then the last CBA changed amount of practices in pads for training camp/pre-season.

Lions are 5 pt. underdogs to the crappy Texans. Embarrassing.

-5 is a huge spread for preseason, and it's the largest spread so far this year. Guess that's what losing 31-3 gets ya.

I know this is pre-season and all but this team looks rough.
Texan's QB's are just sitting back with 5-7 second to look around and throw.
I haven't ever seen one negative or break even play from the defense yet. They just give up 3-4 yards every play, other than Webb's terrible incompletions.

The passing attack looks like a poor man's version of Cooter's playbook.

That's the problem for the Lions, a third string team ...adding depth and no upgrades to push for the starting positions. You say I say the same things all the time... it's because the Lions do it all the time.

Whether people like Caldwell or not, you can't deny the Lions went 11-5 +playoff, 7-9, 9-7 +playoff and another 9-7 season record in Caldwell four years as HC. When Caldwell was on the Hot Seat (in his third season) BEFORE the Playoff game the FRONT OFFICE came out and SAID Caldwell will keep his job. That couldn't wait until after the playoff game? Sorry, but I knew the fan base was going to get ripped off. Regression makes for a schedule filler team... like usual.

Impossible! All hope has already been stolen a long time ago from the base.
Pockets are empty.
