LOL. I see a bunch of 50+ year olds driving Vettes

I can clue you in on something....

Vettes are not made for 50 year olds in mind. I've owned 2 in my lifetime. Lost the last one in the flood of 2016.

The first one I owned was a 69 Stingray. It was rough and in bad shape. Lost a T-Top at 85 mph one day and could not find a replacement after several months. Sold the car for parts. Was 25 at that time.

In 1993 when I was in my late 20s, I bought a '88 Vette. 35th anniversary edition. Less than 10,000 miles. Thought it would be worth something some day so I bought it and hardly drove it. Kept the fucking thing for over 20 years and then the rains came....Had it in my hot rod shop when the floods came.

Because it had not been driven in so long I was unable to start it. Dead battery. Didn't have time to swap batteries out so couldn't move it to higher ground because the water was rising too fast.

Tried to push it out the shop....tires weren't "round" anymore....had not moved the car in over ten years.

So we jacked it up in place and put jack stands under it in the hopes it would stay dry....didn't work. Still got about 9" to a foot of water in it.
:gaah:

Insurance paid it off but not what it was really worth. Lost my ass on that investment.

I hardly ever drove the car because they, Vettes, are very fucking uncomfortable to drive if you are over 40. You are practically laying down while in a vette. Not a very comfortable position to be in for any length of time....trust me!

Vettes are small. A lot smaller than folks are aware of. Park a Vette next to a Mustang....Mustang looks huge!

I like the new Vette....looks nice. If only I were in my 30s again....

It doesn't mesh well with the rest of the car...it's very Camaro-esque, and that mash-up makes it look like they just quit on the design.

My thoughts exactly. But if you look at last years Vette....the tail lights are very similar.

It's almost as if they did this intentionally to have the new Vette resemble an older Vette....so it still "looks" like a Vette.

Looks like a Camaro instead though...

I dont know how we as a nation came to the point that the only thing we do well is be cheap.

It's not the fastest, best quality, most reliable, or best engineered. It's not the best looking, the best sounding, the best ride or the nicest interior. It's not the loudest, or quietest, not the most advanced, the best on a track or the quickest to 60 or whatever. It doesn't corner the best or stop the best or get the best gas mileage.

But fuck if it ain't cheap!

That makes no sense. My ‘95 has 232K on it. Bought new. How many cars in the nation go to 60 in 3 seconds? Go spend your $180k on a foreign car if you feel better.

Sad story about your ‘88. I only drive my ‘95 every every month and keep it on a trickle charger. I think if you’re average size and stay in reasonable shape, you have no trouble getting in and out even though it’s so low, and the seats are super comfortable. IMO.

The lights are similar, but the C7's tail was cleaner....I think it matched the overall design. The new 2020 seems really busy. Still for the money....it's a bad ass deal.

It's actually very good at most of your list there. And this is the base model. Wait until they get to the Z06 and above.

Overall, I like it. Looks cool. My only complaint is that it lacks something that makes it look like a Vette. Besides the name of course. From the side, front or rear, it doesn't scream Corvette.

A Vette is like any performance geared car you have to crawl down into it because of the lowered center of gravity.

I recently drove my best friend's C6 One Lap car from Roanoke VA to Scottsboro AL with only two stops. Car rode, handled and traveled very well I could've driven a lot farther without any problem.
I just made the trip in my Porsche and would give the Vette a slight advantage. I am one month away from 67.

No shit!

And just because it leads in some categories or not doesn't mean shit. It's how YOU drive the car that matters.

You think every time you get in it you are going to set a new speed record?

Most times you drive them the same as any other vehicle. You have to, it's not an option on most roadways. LOL!

So why spend upwards of a quarter million dollars for some foreign exotic sports car? It may be more enjoyable to drive the Vette everyday as opposed to saaaaay.....the Pagani Huayra.
