Another story appeared on SEEBS that Magic effed-up the Lakers chances of obtaining Leonard by running his mouth again. The man can't seem to STHU.

I find that hard to believe, unless Kawhi was just looking for reasons to eliminate the Lakers. How does a non-employee reflect on how the current front office handles their business? Kawhi wanted the meeting with Magic, knowing how talkative he is. Kawhi only involved the Lakers as a last resort if he couldn't get his second star out of Toronto or the Clips.

Maybe.

Here's the thing though.

Information about meeting with Magic got out. Not just that they met, but also some of the details of what was asked and discussed.

That could only have come from 1 of 2 places, Kawhi's side or from Magic. The Lakers never said a word.

Magic had to have known that Kawhi's camp wanted zero leaks. So why couldn't he keep his mouth shut for a couple of days?

Whether or not Kawhi involved the Lakers as a "last resort" or not, isn't really the point. It's that discretion was asked for and Magic talked. He may not be an official part of the organization, but he is still someone whose closely associated with the team.

As much as I love Magic, I really don't understand him talking. Was he trying to undermine Pelinka at the expense of the team he supposedly "loves" and wants to help?

Might be time for the Lakers to disassociate themselves from Magic, at least as far as any player negotiations.

Magic is known for that. Kawhi wanted to talk to him, and he had to know it would get out to some degree. If that was a deciding factor, it's basically creating a situation that he knows that Magic will fail at to "eliminate" the Lakers.

I hope Kawhi enjoys all the negative vibes he's going to get from Laker nation now that he's back home for the foreseeable future. At the very least he strung them along as an escape option at best, causing them to miss free agency options.

I understand why Lakers fans are a bit upset w/ Kawhi. But that negative vibes comment, now that made me laugh. Because those same vibes would have happened anyway regardless of how things went down because KL didn't pick the purple 'n gold.

Had he said so from the start and focused on the Clips and Raptors, it would've been different. Sure, many still would be upset, but the team wouldn't have been held back in free agency. Maybe they still sign most of the same guys, but we'll never know now. It's not really smart to piss off the majority of your hometown basketball fans trying to be underhanded.

I agree. He is going to get booed at Staples LOL. Welcome home!! All in All, the Lakers still did well in free agency. They had a back up plan.

Kawhi's from LA? I thought he was from SD.

You just contradicted yourself.

I contradicted myself by saying Lakers fans would have been disappointed w/ Kawhi no matter how things went down because he didn't pick them? Okay.

Born in LA, went to Martin Luther King High School (Riverside), went to college in San Diego.

Oh good deal. I know he went to SDSU. Watched him play live each time the Aztecs played in Vegas (regular season & MWC tourney).

Sorry, but if the report is true, it's 100% on Magic. I don't care what he's known for. There's no excuse for him not being able to keep his mouth shut for a few days. I just don't think that should be too much to ask.

By contrast, Don McLean who is the Clippers color analyst and is on the radio a lot, was interviewed a couple of days after Kawhi committed, knew exactly how everything went down and still wouldn't talk.

I'm not upset and he won't be getting any negative vibes from me. Magic on the other hand...

I was going to say good luck to your team for next year. But I can't.

Our ole buddy Pau Gasbag has signed a deal with the Trail Blazers. We will be seeing Gasbag more than we may not appreciate.

Now the little turd across the hall is jacking with the Lakers by dropping this bush-league bullshit. I hope he gets hammered when "his" clip joint comes to play the Lakers. PODS!

Kawhi Leonard: Clippers have been better than Lakers 'as far as a basketball standpoint' over past few years

Don't see the problem. The Clippers have been better than the Lakers for the past few years. He was asked a question and answered truthfully.

As a Lakers fan, it sucks to hear, but it's the truth.

I said the same thing myself, TJF12 but I still reserve the right as a lifelong Lakers fan to trash the enemy wherever possible. Don't you? Oh, I forgot, you re the perennial voice of reason. lol.
