My theory on USC football is that LA is a pro sports town. When it had both the Rams and Raiders nobody gave a shit about USC football and those were some pretty dark ages for the program.

When pro football left, everyone got on the USC bandwagon.

Now that the Rams and Chargers are there it’s harder to generate fan interest.

That said there’s no PAC 12 without USC. So, no.

Kids (young men/boys) on the left coast dont grow up dreaming about being football players, they grow up wanting to be the next reality star or social justice warrior. I cannot imagine it is easy to run in skinny jeans while stoned.

It has nothing to do with other options, the population is more than enough to fill every lefty stadium every Sat. It is a cultural issue, not a "there are better things to do"
