I agree that the blue bloods have earned it over time. I also agree there shouldn't be polls until later...I'd argue the the last week of the season though. But, anyone that "votes" or "selects" is human and is influenced by what has been "earned" over the years...whether they admit so or not. The only way they are not influenced by it is when those blue bloods "unearn" it to the point it is so obvious. Even then, some pollsters still place them too high IMHO.

Great example is Nebraska . They e been pretty bad for awhile now and because they won 4 of their last 6 vs average to awful teams last year ( to finish 4-8 ( and return a good amount they're top 20?? How many other teams that went 4-8 last year are going to be ranked this preseason ? Does beating Bethune Cookman, Illinois , Minnesota and MSU mean you're back now ?? Lol

Nebraska will be better but there's nothing they accomplished last year or bring back this year that should lead to a 4-8 team who's best win was Minnesota being ranked preseason. If the jersey read Indiana instead of Nebraska they'd be picked 6-6/7-5 . That's just reality

Nebraska has one of those paper tiger schedules that Iowa likes to brag about when they have successful seasons. You know like the two double digit winning seasons that Iowa's had out of the last 14 years? When Iowa has a double digit winning season they've either dodged the tougher teams or it is a down year for what are typically the tougher teams.
Face it, Iowa St has always been stiff competition for Iowa where Nebraska is (84-15) all-time against the Clones.

Nebraska with a true freshman QB, a new head coach, new offensive coordinator, new defensive coordinator, against a 21 year head coach (ferentz), on the road in Iowa City.

You guys talk a lot of shit about a team who you haven't beat in 5 years and who has best you by an average of 21 ppg since your last win ( a game you trailed by 17 and needed 2 punt return TDs to win ). Iowa hasn't lost in Lincoln since 2011 btw so it's no it like the game being at home is a huge favor to you guys . Combined score of the last 3 games in Lincoln . Iowa 122- Nebraska 54. Lol

Records don't mean shit. Success for P5 teams is based on how often you're relevant nationally . No one cares if you went 10-4 instead of 8-5. There are kids going to college this year who have never seen a CFB season where Nebraska was relevant nationally . They're 10 years away from being Minnesota without the cool city to recruit too .
