The only rankings that matter are being in the top 4 at the end of the regular season and #1 after the playoffs.I’m tired of being ranked behind anybody.
Trust me I know. Two years in a row ass fucked. The only rankings that matter are being in the top 4 at the end of the regular season and #1 after the playoffs.
Not really. The committee has shown that they're not that concerned with the polls based on where they place teams.CFB. The only sport where rankings that occur before anyone even plays a game impact who makes the playoffs at season end .

It's not like we could choose mid-season to adjust that bowl tie in. Plenty of error in the way CFB was handled pre-playoff.The one where Nebraska went 13-0 and the Big 10 refused to join the Bowl Alliance so they could hide in the Rose Bowl against lesser opponent #8 Washington St.

Right. Accepting that data as factual assumes that the majority of posters on here (myself included) aren't idiots.
You don't seem to understand the argument. Nebraska started higher in both polls than Michigan. It's very likely that helped determine the final rankings. @rmilia1's post has nothing to do with teams only being ranked #1. We've seen it plenty of times before. Teams who start higher are harder to jump and stay ahead of in the polls. Teams who start high in the polls are at an advantage because climbing a poll and jumping those already ranked high is hard. This is how much of a flaming idiot Maize&Blew is.
Nebraska was not even preseason #1 in 1997. They were #6 in both polls.

Yup, I agree. No need to be so angry. The B10 as a conference could have chosen a different path, they didn't. So we ended up with a split title. You didn't have to "choose mid-season"
The Big 10 could have chosen to join the Bowl Coalition in 1992 which was formed to match #1 vs #2 at the end of the season.
The Big 10 could have chosen to join the Bowl Coalition which was still in place in 1993 and formed to match #1 vs #2 at the end of the season.
The Big 10 could have chosen to join the Bowl Coalition which was still in place in 1994 and formed to match #1 vs #2 at the end of the season.
The Big 10 could have chosen to join the Bowl Alliance in 1995 which was formed to match #1 vs #2 at the end of the season.
The Big 10 could have chosen to join the Bowl Coalition which was still in place in 1996 and formed to match #1 vs #2 at the end of the season.
The Big 10 could have chosen to join the Bowl Coalition which was still in place in 1997 and formed to match #1 vs #2 at the end of the season.
You had 6 fucking years of January's to join. Not "Mid-season".
The Big 10 did not want to join those agreements meant to pit #1 vs #2 because they figured their chances of winning a national title were better against lesser opponents in the Rose Bowl.
i.e The last minute 21-16 win over #8 Washington St. while Nebraska was destroying Peyton Mannings #3 Tennessee 42-17.
