Also, for you Cali people that experience earthquakes quite a bit, were Mark Jones and Doris Burke being overly dramatic about the quake? They both claimed it was their first so obviously they were surprised but I was like "damn. settle down. you're acting like the earth split open". I've only been in one earthquake, that 5.8 that hit the east coast in 2011. Obviously that was much smaller than this one (a full point lower) but I didn't think it felt like anything to freak out over. It was more like "hey this is weird". Is the difference in magnitude that much different? I also imagine its much more disorienting if you're in a high building.

I think everyone’s reaction is different. Some people just hate the feeling of the ground shaking, it freaks them out. That said, they are overreacting, it wasn’t bad at all.
