Regardless of the roration or not of teams that plays each other.. we have a CCG that could be against 2 teams that haven't played in a while..Is a conference that refuses to play their own conference members really a conference?

I meant to say when was the last time Iowa State played a P5 other than Iowa?Just curious, when is the last time Iowa played a P5 other than Iowa? There is no real variance in their schedule year in, year out.

The last time that Iowa State played a P5 opponent not named Iowa was 2002 and it was Florida State. No P5 opponents scheduled in the future2011 UConn, were still apart of the Big East which had a BCS auto bid
Too late ... you and your kind have been exposed. We've all seen the facts on teams that play 8 game conference schedules. The last time that Iowa State played a P5 opponent not named Iowa was 2002 and it was Florida State. No P5 opponents scheduled in the future
The last P5 OOC opponent for Iowa not named Iowa State was 2011 and Pitt. No p5 opponents scheduled in the future.
This is why I would prefer an 8 game conference schedule with 2 Mandatory P5 opponents because teams that have a natural rival won’t play anyone else.
Yep. They can...most of 'em just won't.This is why I would prefer an 8 game conference schedule with 2 Mandatory P5 opponents because teams that have a natural rival won’t play anyone else.

When a team playing a 9 game conference schedule whens a natty, let me know.
I don’t think that a 9 game conference schedule is what is keeping the Big10, Big12, and the PAC12 from winning games after a 4-5 week layoff.More than ever does it prove there is an advantage with playing an 8 game conference schedule. Good on the SEC and ACC for taking advantage of that. I wish everyone else (even the B12) would just go to an 8 game conference schedule.

Gotta say AG, I admire your optimistic outlook. You don't look at the Pac 12 and focus on how irrelevant they are and that the only two times they've been in spitting distance of the national championship the last 15 years, they've been humiliated by sleepwalking teams from the east. No, you instead find a niche and focus entirely on beating your chest about that. It doesn't bother you that no one cares and that it's irrelevant to team success, you just keep beating your chest. I like that glass is half-full mindset. Kudos man.
It makes it a little bit easier to compare teams/conferences instead of doing a six degrees of college football. It’s not the sole reason. But it sure helps. That extra win that both those (SEC and ACC) get as result of the extra OOC game is not hurting resumes anywhere in those said conferences. Because let’s be honest, that extra OOC game results in playing some G5 (usually bad) opponent at home. Which I dont blame them. I’m just not going to pretend it’s not an advantage.
I love your idea of an 8 game conference schedule and 2 mandatory P5’s OOC. That is a great idea.
What? I was saying we want to preserve those rivalries.
You realize this doesn't make any sense, right? The post to which you responded stated that one reason we play 8 conference games is because several of our teams have rival games to end the year - UGa v. Tech, UF v. FSU, USCjr v. Clemson, and UK v. Louisville. And, because we are smart and schedule to our advantage, not our disadvantage.Rather keep Mercer on the schedule than Gtech? Gotcha.
