I agree with this statement. I wish there were a moratorium on scheduling more than 4 or 5 years into the future.

It would take a lot of effort from the conferences, but ideally the P5 conferences could work out rotating home and home series schedule by some agreed upon criteria to get good matchups. I am thinking along the lines of how the ACC Big10 Challenge is set up in BB.

The SEC enacted legislation a few years ago to keep teams from scheduling a bye the week before rivalry week. So, the only choice would be an FCS school, someone from the Group of 5, or a another Power-5 school.

I would rather play a G-5 school that week, but I am okay with an FCS school every once in a while, if that's all we can get. I prefer to play the OOC P-5 schools before mid-October.

I wanted to say it shouldn't matter to y'all because your starters were pulled at the half for every freakin regular season game last year. That was really impressive. BTW I feel that we may want to cuss each other out just to maintain appearances.:suds:

Or you know, you can play a conference game, like nearly a third of the SEC does now and nearly every other team in the country does. But of course there is no other choice other than play a FCS team that week.

I'm okay with playing another conference game, but it would have to be earlier in the season; not after LSU/Mississippi St./before Auburn.

It fvcks the fans over bigly. I'd rather see the PAC not make the CFP then to see that conference cut off its testicles and water down the game.
They pretty much did that when they hired Larry Scott & went to a 9-game conference schedule.

No. 5 is almost 6 & 6 is almost 7, but 5 is not almost 7. 5 is, in fact, closer to 4.
so if there are 7 people at a BBQ and 5 Burgers did almost everyone get a burger?

Depends.

Are these California veggie burgers? Then sure cause there’s still 5 left at the end.

If this is a Nebraska BBQ then I ate 3 of them already so no way did almost everyone get one.

Now you are just being narrow minded. Unreasonable expectations to have teams play four, five, or six conference games in a row to end the season. Too much of a grind.

i think he meant ranked non conference opponent.
they beat #8 WSU at the end of last season.
2001 was their last regular season non conference P5 ranked team win

That would be accurate.

...or maybe I was subtlety saying the Pac-12 isn't really a P5 conference.

There was nothing subtle about it.

2010 was their last bowl win against a P5 team, Nebraska, and they were ranked 20th.

It's also their only ranked OOC win in the last 6486 days, lol.

That regular season streak will extend for at least another 451 days....because they don't have a P5 opponent scheduled this year. So their next opportunity will be Michigan in 2020...assuming they are ranked...here's hoping not.

One of the other things I hate about the scheduling is that the OOC games are scheduled too far in advance. I understand why it is done, but there is no way to know if you are going to be a quality team in seven years out, much less the quality of your opponent.

This bothers me more than anything else, I absolutely hate this.

This whole offseason has brought it even more to light with all the great home and homes coming up that current 1st graders are getting recruited to play in

How exactly have you lost by Clemson not playing Virginia? The record is Clemson 38 Virginia 8 and 1 tie.

Or Duke. Clemson 37 Duke 16 and 1 tie.

Or UNC. Clemson 37 UNC 19 and 1 tie.

If your existence is dependent on games like that then you need to seek help.

We do lose by not seeing Clemson play Miami and Virginia Tech though

Yes there's some duds (moreso in the ACC because it's one team league of Clemson at the moment) but those duds are worth seeing Alabama/Georgia more in the SEC, Clemson/Virginia Tech more in the ACC, etc

I would argue the committee is more concerned with how your conference plays against teams outside your conference than it does against those inside.

When you are choosing who should be in the playoffs and your choice is between two teams with similar records this are the sorts of things that put you in or out.

Pac-12 record versus other conferences in the CFP 1-2
SEC record versus other conferences in the CFP 6-3
ACC Record versus other conferences in the CFP 5-3

The SEC & ACC are a combined 7-2 in CFP games where they didn't have to play each other and no other conference has played for the title for the last 4 years.

That's why they are always in, because they continue to win, not because they play 8 conference games, if they played 8 games and lost in the first round of the playoffs every year, they wouldn't keep getting in.

Why would you take a chance on a team like Washington, who hasn't beaten a ranked P5 regular season opponent in almost 6500 days, when they got their shit pushed in the last time you took a chance on them.

This is cherry picking, Washington beat a ranked Boise State in 2013, a ranked team is a ranked team no matter what bullshit label you give

We've beat Miami 96-3 the last two times we've played and won five straight against VT by an average score of 34.4 to 16.4.

And in order to get what you desire we'll be giving up OOC series against P5 teams that have produced games like these:

Clemson 28 Texas A&M 26
Clemson 14 Auburn 6
Clemson 19 Auburn 13
Clemson 38 Georgia 35
Clemson 26 Auburn 19

Explain exactly why this is a good trade-off for fans.

How do you figure that? The PAC added two more teams (Colorado & Utah) so there was a need to move to a 9 game conference schedule.

Are you telling us that if the ACC & SEC move to a 9 game conference schedule that they can forego any decent OOC games? Explain that please.
