Packers Were Wrong to Give Away Clay Matthews' Number This Quickly

That is some cold shit right there. You can't tell me the Packers did this by accident.
What did Clay Matthews do to deserve that slap in the face.

Out of respect for a great franchise player, if you don't retire his number you just wait a season or 2 before giving it away. Even if the Packers were out of numbers and were in a bind ...they could have done something to show more respect.

What were the Packers so pissed off about that they would do this? Rumor has it Matthews even went back to the Packers to Match an offer that was 10 millions less than what he asked them for.

What's the big deal? He could have re-signed with Green Bay but chose to sign with the Rams instead.

Yeah, that's kind of dicky, but he is so juiced up with PEDs that I can't feel sorry for him.
He never was suspended for PEDs so to say he is juiced is kind of stupid but I suppose you are entitled to your opinion.

This is a non story to me.
Either #'s get retired or reused.
# isnt being retired so it gets reused.
Non story to me.
Agree 100%. What number someone wears is important to virtually no one except the players themselves, particularly after that player has departed the team.

Anyone remember the controversy surrounding Clinton Portis buying the rights to #26 Ifeanyi Ohalete's number? No? Does anyone care? No.

With 90-95 numbers available per team (due to retired numbers), roughly 90 players report to training camp. Even allowing for a few players having identical numbers, not all unretired numbers can be used. This is why there is a "ring of honor" for most teams nowadays, to celebrate great former players, but whose numbers were not retired.

Don't feel bad. I've been a fan since the Lombardi days, am a stockholder, am under 6000 on the waiting list for season tickets, and I'm pretty sure they don't really care about me either.
As a Canuckistanian I don't get to see too many NFL games but I did see two. One of the was Green Bay at Tampa Bay. The Packers stuffed them

Have you ever seen his face?

Sorry to insult your Packers, but let's be honest here. Is there anyone that doesn't think he took something??? There is so much smoke here that the fire is burning up the website. It's no big deal as tons of players have, but come on...

He was never suspended for PEDs and he's been in the league for 10 years. By the way I'm not a Packers fan as I am a Cowboys season ticket holder but feel free to call me whatever you wish.

True with the huge Rodgers contract, they couldn't afford to re-sign any other players :suds:

Been awhile since he was good. Shouldn't really matter his number is in use, to anybody but him.
