Hopefully tonight's result will silence any chatter that his style of play isn't built for March

the most handsome coach in college basketball is going to the final four!

Unfortunately there are some here that are still on that kick. First, they said UVA had to make a deep run. They did that in 2016 when they made the Elite 8. Then they said that UVA has to make a couple of deep runs. Well, they checked that bo, this season.

This was always a dumb argument. Almost as dumb as the people that say Gonzaga can't make deep runs because of their schedule. Bennett has also been incredibly unfortunate with injuries heading into the tournament. 2015, 2017 and last year they dealt with significant injuries.

That's not to mention that no coach has done crap at UVa except when Sampson was there. Some people just don't understand what it takes to win at schools like UVa...unbelievable how stupid they really are.

Like I've said, it's about how many bites you get at the apple.

Villanova was in the same boat, and we all know the end to that story.

I was his biggest critic but he took them to the promised land and you have to respect that. He coached up Wazzu to play better than the talent he had to work with but at times UVA seemed to play down to his system. But a FF is a FF and he deserves props.

Tony Bennett is an amazing coach. If it took you until this year to notice, you ain't the sharpest tool in the shed.

I still gotta say though ... losing to UMBC was terrible.

I'm still trying to figure out how that happened.

Go look at UVA's basketball history and compare Bennett's recent run to any other time for UVA basketball. He built the high expectations for himself. UVA has very little basketball tradition outside their run with Ralph Sampson. And it's not like UVA did it by bringing in top one and done talent.

Shot the ball horribly and they were missing their best overall player (Hunter).

Really? Like being the first 1 seed to lose in the opening round? The whole goal is to make deep tournament runs. He wasn't good in that regard.

You have to have a nagging doubt when UVA is going to have a patented UVA moment though. Hard to put any confidence in the French if you are a long term ACC fan.

That's all you got? Anybody that watched UVA ball that was a "hooper" could realize that he needed to loosen up a little bit and let players make plays. It's a balancing act. He figured it out. Congrats to UVA.

Yeah, you weren’t a hooper. No problem, glad you enjoy watching the games
