I questioned Irving's dedication last year after he missed several games with a concussion. Must have been the worst concussion of all time. Dude let his teammates down. This guy threw away 35 million at least

Cowboys fans knew this was coming last season. Same with that other dipshit Randy Gregory.
Cowboys weren't gonna resign Irving anyway, so see ya.

Calls are being made to Demarcus Ware and Randy White to come out of retirement.
I think Gregory wants to play, but Irving does not. But yeah they both are idiots

You are most likely correct, but I could see it happening. However most likely the union will demand it in the upcoming CBA, and it will be an easy give away point for the NFL.
The union has a lot bigger issues they'll be fighting.
I am sure it's a small minority of players who would like to see the NFL drop testing for it. The majority are more concerned about contracts, game scheduling, health care... the only reason this would even be a blip on the radar would be if the NFLPA used it for a bargining tool. So they can argue that the owners aren't giving up anything/much. The NFLPA would argue we proposed "x" # of issues and you said no "x" many times.

It's 4-10 years of a players life. Just put the bowl down and back away. Make your millions for playing a GAME, retire then go smoke your head off. No pity for any idiot getting popped.

I'm a believer in the CBA. It says no pot so no pot, but if you think the majority of the players aren't concerned about not being allowed to smoke, I think you're wrong. I think most players are smoking, but they just aren't getting caught.
On top of that some of the owners want to change the no pot rule.

I'm calling it now. In the next CBA either pot will be fully allowed or the league will just stop testing for it.

We'll see I guess?
I think the number may be smaller than what you think? Many of these atheletes are pretty particular on what they put in their bodies. I could be wrong no real way to tell at this point.
I still see the majority more apt to fight for those other things I mentioned.
As for the owners, most are old white billionaires who've been owners of multi-million $ corps where drugs weren't tolerated. Wearing suits and ties were the norm. They're not a bunch of X-gen tech company owners. Having said that, I'm sure the owners wouldn't mind seeing it go away just so they don't have to deal with suspensions?:noidea:

If they tell them 2 weeks ahead, that's not enough to clear their system.....
That's if they test by urine. THC clears the blood quickly so if the NFL wanted to they could switch th o blood for marijuana tests and then if you get caught. You're a complete idiot and deserve any suspension they hand out.

I'm anti marijuana but I wish the league would just stop testing for it. If you get caught by the police with bbn it then the league can hand out a suspension.

For 98% or more of NFL players, they are only tested once a year for MJ. And it is well known when that is, the start of training camp. The NFL allows players who aren't complete imbeciles, to consume MJ throughout the year without fear of being tested. If you can't go without during a six week window each year, maybe you shouldn't be playing football.

For the NFLPA, it would be asinine to give any concession in order to eliminate testing for MJ. And the only way the NFL would give up well established testing on a substance that is still federally illegal, is if the NFLPA conceded on another issue in the next CBA.

The next CBA will allow it just like the NHL allows it. This is going to be no big deal soon.

this is true but I've been told they know which month testing occurs
If it's in July for example, then stay off the smoke April, May & June and smoke the rest of the year....everyone is happy

so you've said on many occasions

I'm anti drinking or texting while driving. :suds:
Yes I've said it before, just reminding those I'm in discussion with I'm not a smoker supporting smokers rights, just that I see pot being allowed or just not tested for soon.

The just stop testing for pot approach will still allow the NFL to suspend those arrested for pot. This approach would be great for the players in states with approved recreational use, but bad for teams in states like Texas.

Edit: I'm writing this driving home from the bar.

Even if pot is legalized nationwide I doubt the NFL would allow it.

What is your stance on performance enhancing drugs?
