I suppose we could use the vikings fan thread, but thought starting thread to discuss happenings of upcoming off-season

I wont lest all free agents we have, but here are ones I consider note worthy

Anthony Barr-I suspect they'll let him walk. If they do, I wouldn't be upset if we didn't make a big signing and just cash the 3rd pick
Murray-He wants more PT, won't be back
Easton-Interesting one, Easton was an Ok guard, but who knows after an injury. I would offer him small deal
Richardson-I think MN tries to re-sign him
Harris-Re-sign
Bailey-Meh

In draft I'm looking for
OG, OG, OG, OG, OG, and OG

After that, LB, DE, WR

Barr - Average player who will probably be expecting a good pay day. I'd pass unless they can get him for what he's actually worth. Let someone else give him a big money deal if that's what he's expecting.

Murray - I like him, but he's expendable. Could easily draft someone or find someone else in FA to fill his spot if need be.

Easton - If they think he'll be good to go and can still play well, they might as well bring him back. Otherwise pass.

Richardson - He was fine, but nothing phenomenal last season. He was looking to prep for a big season to get a huge pay day this off-season, so I say they should only keep him if he's willing to come back at a modest price.

Harris - Agreed, re-sign

Bailey - Re-sign. He's the best kicker we've had since Walsh's 2015 playoffs FG shank against Seattle, and arguably since Walsh first started declining as early as 2014. He went 21/28 on FG's and 30/31 on extra points in his time with us last year. At least one or two of those misses were on stupidly long FG attempts that Zimmer and co. should have known had next to 0 chance of success. Lastly, he's only 31 yet, was coming off an injury last season, and we've been down this road way too many times before of riding the kicker carousel. Time and time again, the Vikings have proven that they are best off bringing in veterans (Longwell, Forbath to an extent, and now Bailey) to do it. Give him a front loaded 2-year extension, he's the best option we have out of the free agent kicker pool this off-season and I really don't want them going into 2019 with another question mark at the position.

I agree on O-line needing to be the priority. Beyond that, get rid of that bum Treadwell at WR, I'm sick of them wasting a roster spot on that clown. Agreed on everything else.

AP apparently working out a deal to return to Washington. He's almost certainly going to pass Bettis and LT to make it to #6 on the all-time rushing yards leaders list if they keep him as their main starting RB, with a decent shot at making it past Curtis Martin at #5 if he can avoid significant injury setbacks. I don't think he'll ever catch Barry Sanders at #3, but IMO the only two guys who remain untouchable to him in terms of career rushing yardage at this point are Emmitt and Payton.

Vikings get 3 comp picks

1-6th
2-7th

Had AZ not cut bradford, we probably would've gotten a 3rd round comp pick

So far, they've parted ways Sendejo, Remmers, and Barr. Now they're set to bring back a former Vikings castoff DT in Shamar Stephen, so Sheldon Richardson officially looks to be gone, as well.

Obviously, they were going to lose some guys, and I'm not all that bummed out about Sendejo, Remmers, and Barr moving on. Not sure why they decided to downgrade at DT without going after any FA O-linemen, so now that's one more potential need to target in the draft.

So basically, we've lost several veterans, may still need to drop more, and downgraded at DT. We might as well face it now, 2019 is gonna suck for this team lol.

Well I think that's a bit of an overreaction at this point

I don't think defense dropped off much when Barr was out last season, so I think we'll be fine. Richardson trailed off as season ended, but it would've been nice to keep him.

Harris outplayed sendejo
Remmers was terrible

plenty of off season left.

Winners aren't crowned in march

Sendejo hadn't been the same since he was injured in the NFC game against the Eagles...

edit: which is too bad, because I felt he was a big part of the identity/personality of the defense in 2017

Griffen restructures to give team cap room. I'm a bit surprised they didn't do anything Rudy, although still time

They need to, too big of a cap hit for what he's been producing. Doesn't he count $10M against the cap this season?
