SA needs to post his draft list.

But i don't think he's here any longer... this @savikings doesn't pull him up.

Just from reading some of the rumors..if they're true, I'm quickly losing confidence in the front office. Cousins' contract could keep them from being competitive for the next couple of years.

What rumors are those?

Cousins contract expires next year, they've been able to keep many of their core guys as well.

The problem many of our young defensive players needed to be paid or lost, add in we no longer have a cheap QB

Mannion as back up QB and they're supposedly interested in a couple of lineman the graded out worse than Compton...probably because that's all they can afford.

I think overall depth will be diminished.

Of course it well, any team that pays a QB has too

Our other option was going with a rookie QB, for us, that would've meant Lamar Jackson? Does that sound ideal to you?

I understand frustration with Cousins, but our hands were tied.

I'm more frustrated with the fact that is seems as though the front office didn't think it through and have plans in place to mitigate Cousins contract. The OL could actually be much worse than it has been. Hopefully Kubiak can work some magic.

There is definitely concern, especially with the OL

I think the biggest issue is how out of control the QB contracts are getting in general for the entire league. Just look at the list of top paid guys for 2019 and compare it to their main accomplishments compared to pay:

1. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers: $33.5 million - won 1/1 SB in 2010 while still on his rookie deal

2. Falcons QB Matt Ryan: $30 million - 0/1 in Superbowl. Avg salary was $20.75 mil /year prior to the SB appearance in 2016, now it's $30 million.

3, Vikings QB Kirk Cousins: $28 million - 1 post season appearance and first round exit when he was a starter. Also played in a losing effort in relief of an injured RGIII as a rookie. His lone post season starting appearance was in 2015 when he was still on his rookie deal.

4. 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo: $27.5 million - has started a total of 10 regular season games, 7 of which were when he was a backup. Also consider that he played for the best overall team in the NFL of the past 15+ years in the Patriots befoer getting paid by the 49'ers, and this one is just plain absurd.

5. Lions QB Matthew Stafford: $27 million - 0/3 in the playoffs. 2011 was on his rookie deal, and 2014/2016 were both on a deal in which he averaged $17.6 mil/ year. He started getting averaging $27 mil /year in 2017.

6. Raiders QB Derek Carr: $25 million - 0 playoff appearances.

7. Saints QB Drew Brees: $25 million - 15 playoff games, 1/1 in the SB. SB was in 2009 when he averaged $10 mil /year. His pay increased to an average of $20 mil /year in 2012, and they proceeded to miss the playoffs for 4 out of the next 5 years until 2017, and admittedly came very close to making the SB in 2018 after he got his most recent pay increase. That said, it's also worth noting that his pay is in the top 7 and was lower than that before, whereas his talent has been top 3 for many years now.

8. Colts QB Andrew Luck: $24.6 million - 8 playoff appearances.

9. Redskins QB Alex Smith: $23.5 million - 7 playoff appearances.

10. Broncos QB Joe Flacco: $22.1 million - 15 playoff appearances, 1/1 in the SB. The one SB was in 2012 while he was still on his rookie deal before being signed to a then-record contract in 2013.

Then it goes Foles (1 SB in a season he was paid backup money on a team whose anointed starter of choice, Wentz, was on his rookie deal), Russell Wilson (1 SB, won on his rookie deal), Ben Roethilisberger (2/3 in the SB, both wins came on his rookie deal), Eli Manning (2/2 in the SB, 1 on his rookie deal and another very lucky run in 2011), Phillip Rivers (0 titles), Cam Newton (0/1 in SB). AFTER Netwon is Brady at #17 top paid QB.

Basically, these days in the NFL, you need to either win a title on your franchise QB's rookie deal, or get extremely lucky and/or have a somewhat underpaid QB. But having a top paid OVERPAID QB is essentially automatic doom.
