Mmmm, I guess. I just don't like paying that kind of money to a kicker. That said, our kicker was partly responsible for our playoff miss in 2018 and may be the reason for not advancing in the playoffs 2019... so...
I agree that spending a lot on a kicker is undesirable, but I believe his average cap hit per year is only about $2m more than Janikowski. His contract also puts him somewhere in the 5-10 highest paid kickers which isn't too awful.
My biggest hope is that he doesn't have a regression to the norm. He wasn't great on PATs but had an amazing year on long-range field goals last year.
It seems the contract is relatively team friendly though.

If he struggles, there is an out after the 2020 season with a minimal dead money hit. I also believe we're still somewhat haunted by that Blair Walsh situation. Had he performed better in the 2017 season, the Hawks probably would've won 11 games or so.
I haven't really done much research on the kickers available in free agency, but it's nice to know we go into 2019 with a reliable kicker.
