my bad on the Ohio state years.

as for the the other part look at it this way
last year Pac 3 was 9-4 Utah #17 pre bowls
#4 was Stanford 8-4 unranked

could have been playing Texas A&M 8-4 and ranked 19
or 8-4 Iowa
so recotds would have been pretty close
I agree with that. :)

The ACC getting a Holiday bid is really exciting.

The locals will really be pleased when Duke or Wake Forest go and there is a fly-over
by the 5 Bi-Planes bringing the Duke or Wake fans.

Can the Pac 12 gift the Sun Bowl tie in to another conference?

PAC12 - 2 Big10 - 5

2018
Arizona 5-7 NA
Arizona State 7-6 beat MSU 7-6
Cal 7-6 NA
Colorado 5-7 beat Nebraska 4-8
Oregon 9-4 beat MSU 7-6
Oregon State 2-10 lost to Ohio State 13-1
Stanford 9-4 NA
UCLA 3-9 NA
USC 5-7 NA
Utah 9-5 lost to Northwestern 9-5
Washington 10-4 lost to Ohio State 13-1
Washington State 11-2 NA
PAC12 - 3 Big10 - 3

Last two years the PAC12 is 5-8 against the Big10. There was only one game between bowl eligible teams played in the regular season and that was ASU vs MSU last year.

Looks like when the B1G top teams played the PAC12 top teams, the PAC12 usually lost.

USC lost to Ohio State
Washington lost to Penn State
Wash State lost to Michigan State
Utah lost to Northwestern
Washington lost to Ohio State

When the middle to low tier teams play, it is a fair game. Take out the two easy wins the PAC 12 had against a 4-8 Nebraska team, looks bad for the PAC 12.

Seriously, who would lose to a 4-8 Nebraska team.

Fucking Spartans.

Peach is a NY6
Unless LV gets a date change I doubt it will move that high for SEC.

I forgot to factor in bowl placement, time-wise. If the new Las Vegas Bowl is played earlier than December 31, then it's SEC team will probably be in the #6th to 8th-best team available range. If it's against the 3rd best Pac-12 team, then it might get the 4th, 5th or 6th best SEC team.

cycles

go back to 2010 and the record is 4-3 in the Rose for Pac over Big. (4-4 overall top to top in bowls including Ohio State over Oregon in NCG)
other comparisons over longer period Oregon and MSU went 1-1 when both were ranked top 10 in 14 and top 20 in 15.
2015 10-3 Utah beat 10-3 Michigan (2014 Utah also beat them but Mich was garbage)
2013 10-4 ASU beat 9-4 Wisconsin.
2016 south champ Colorado lost to Michigan. (after Colorado went up 21-7 in first but QB went out) both finished top 20 teams.

the problem is that NY day still holds an amount of cache but its really not that big a deal when 8-4 South Carolina is playing 8-4 Michigan in the Outback. or 8-4 Tenn plays a 10 win Northwestern.
Gator actually moved from Jan 1 to Dec.
then you have ones that were in Jan for G5 before as well.

I love the Sun Bowl. :)

You must be the only person alive that thinks going to El Paso during the Holiday season is an actual reward for a well played season.

I have always enjoyed watching the game and attended the 1996 Stanford win over Michigan State. It's a cool stadium and has plenty of history (one of the oldest Bowl Games). I'd love the Big Xii to add it back to the rotation and would definitely go to see Iowa State play. From what I understand, they have one of the better Bowl Hospitality experiences to boot.

I can remember when the Sun Bowl used to be a desired bowl location; but there were a whole lot less bowls in those days. You had the "Big Four" of the Cotton, Orange, Rose & Sugar; then the Gator & Sun were at the top of the second-tier bowl games, a little higher than the Liberty & Peach, and a good bit higher than the Astro-Bluebonnet & Tangerine.

Then the Citrus Bowl & the Holiday Bowl made things a little more crowded, and when the Fiesta Bowl took off, it became one of the top five & the Sun slowly faded towards the bottom of the tier two bowls.

That is all true, but I still like the Sun Bowl. I've only been once, but it was a great experience. Moreover, I'd rather return there than many of the other Bowl Games. Mostly due to the historic stadium and setting. Hey, Alabama is a 3 time Champion (1983, 1986 and 1988), so what's not to love! :)

I remember watching those Bama bowl games on tv and seeing the mountain in the background with the word "Miners" promptly displayed thereon. Always thought that was cool.

The Sun Bowl use to be something. Now it is you are spending Christmas in El Paso. It is the least desirable bowl game for any bowl tie in that the Pac 12 has.
